Slight pause

Posted by jonljacobi Apr 1, 2008

They should be announcing the winner tomorrow, but I'll be winging my way to Oklahoma City on a brief trip and will miss it. The Dream PC is in the trusty hands of the test center's Thomas Luong who's putting it through its paces. Acronis True Image 11 and Disk Director 10 showed up and have been added to the software stack. Thanks to Acronis's Stephen Lawton for that.

I couldn't get hold of the Icemat Siberia headphones so I opted for the Creative Fatal1tys instead. Hope you're all not too disappointed. I'll be packing up stuff this weekend, but we may also run some more tests and do an extensive burn in so the main system won't be in the box till next week. I still have to drain the coolant and tidy things up. Hope the winner doesn't get too antsy. ;-)

Cheers, Jon

I'd love to do one more video, but I think we did one more than planned anyway. Chris only has so much time. Sigh.

The winner has not been announced yet. The winner will be notified shortly (by the end of the week) but may not be announced for a couple weeks (depending on timing) until all the legal paperwork has been completed.

I hope I win because my computer is the oldest and the slowest computer on the face of earth.

THIS CHANCE ONLY COMES SOMETIMES and I want to take it.

In the sound of good sportsmanship (or whatever word describes our desires to snag this PC and gloat in everybody's face), congrats to whoever wins this beast. And if I win it, sorry, but you can't have it. =]

The winner has two weeks from the date of notification to respond. If the winner does not respond in that time, we pick another winner and they also have two weeks to respond. So, the short answer to your question is Yes.

I may have missed it, or it wasn't posted. Does anyone know what the max resolution of the monitors would be?

Kellie, It would be great if you told us when the winner has responded so we can all stop checking our emails every 20 minutes

It takes as long as it takes. I think several hours if all goes right. Then we want to test three or four different memory configs in this case so... Consider it an extended burn in. The system seems super stable.
