We're getting there. I have now Vista 64 installed (not activated, as I'm waiting for a key from Microsoft) and left the office with the Iomega UltraMax Pro external RAID box (running as a 700GB RAID 1 mirrored array) formatting--slowly. I'll be using it for now to store disk images that I'll create before every phase of the software installation process, in case I need to roll back. Whoever wins this system can easily switch the Iomega back to 1.5TB. I just figured that since it is for backup, redundancy would be a good thing. It is, don't argue.
The Acronis True Image boot disc I have apparently didn't like the new Intel Storage Matrix controller, or perhaps the Marvell eSATA controller. Whichever it was, True Image complained and sent me into Vista. I switched to the PE2-based Active @ Boot disc which worked fine. I'm also going to try Vista's new image backup facility to see how well that works.
Below is a picture of the APC Back UPS RS 1500 on the floor, charging up. I like the red lights. Should offset all the blue LEDs in the system itself nicely.
