No, you're not seeing things. Some of you may have already noticed our new layout, which went live a few minutes ago. The community list is moved up to the top, and the top users, tag cloud, and polls are moved over to the left This produces a new three column layout instead of the old 2 column version.

All of the same stuff is still there, we just re-arranged a bit. We hope that this will make it easier for newer members to find their way around and get to the places they want to go to faster.

Let us know what you think, and any other layout changes that you think might make it easier for everyone to use the space.

It just gets better. I also noticed that the "your stuff" thingy changed color if you had a PM unopened in the box. That's a good thing as I'm terrible about checking it. coastie65

I noticed it and left a comment on your other blog "A few things" There's a lot of useless, empty space on both sides and I do not really like it. It looks unorganized and sloppy. Sorry. :(

I like it ! Very nice layout, nice Communities grouping, Latest Poll toward the top along with Popular Tags, all with easy access. Nice colors, golds, blues, reds, and Avatars. I was concerned you were going to make it look more like Macworlds. I like "ours" allot better. Good job, don't change it. :-)

I do have to admit that I like the middle part, everything closer together makes it easier to find out who has answered a post.

And of course, I still like the neatly organized part on the left.

The latest "version" is better than the previous One .

Hi Coastie -- that feature has been there for a while. Glad you like it, though. :)

Adama, can you tell me what you mean about "empty space"? Do you mean the space under the side columns?

If so, there are a couple things here. First, we wanted to make the center section smaller (glad you like that) and to make more information available "above the fold" to make it easier for everyone (new and experienced users) to find what they were looking for quickly.

Second, I've asked to see if we can display more Top Members and more tags in the tag cloud.

Third, the length of the right column is variable due to the poll -- polls with more answers will take up more room, obviously.

Fourth, the only way to reduce the empty space on the sides would be to shorten the What's New list in the center, which I really don't want to do. I figure, if you're hard core enough to read that far, you'll understand.

We might try to find stuff to fill up the sides with, but I want to make sure that it remains clean, easy to use and understand. I don't want to add stuff there just to have stuff there, and end up with a confusing mess.

Thanks Car54! It is largely the same as what Macworld has, but obviously we'll keep our own color scheme. :)

Hi SpiritWind -- can you tell me what you dislike about this version?

Kellie, yes, by "empty space" I meant the blank space under the side columns.

And thanks for addressing all my concerns. I particularly like your last sentence "I don't want to add stuff there just to have stuff there, and end up with a confusing mess."

Good job, as always. :)

Well, I have to confess it's looking better to me every day. I guess what makes it look a little weird is the different size of the red words under Tags.

Oh, that's called a tag cloud. It's a pretty typical representation of tags -- the ones in larger font are the ones most often used.
