Everyone is trying to get rid of Spam. Why? I love the stuff. I can't get enough. I am a junk-mail junkie, and proud of it. For the last year, I have put my email address on any site that I can find. Life has never been better. Let me count the ways.

http://forums.pcworld.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/6922/junkmailjunkie.gif

At first I received a spam mail that said: You Qualify for a Gold Card. Right after that, another asked me: How many Credit Cards can you get? The wheels started spinning. As it turns out, I can get a lot of Credit Cards!!! I have replied to every one of these spams, so now my combined credit limit from the 100 or so cards is now $500,000! This is a lot of credit, and I'm not so good at repaying it, so it is good that the fine people who sent this mortgage refinance offer, Refinance without perfect credit, do not check my credit.

These generous lenders have allowed me to refinance my house so many times that the banks now pay me money every month!

I am a big fan of learning, so when I got many emails touting U N I V E R S I T Y D I P L O M A S , I started working on my first PhD. It wasn't my last PhD, though. I now have 12 PhDs in every subject imaginable, and I have more brains than the Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz". I am truly a doctor of "thinkology"

Along with my newfound brains I have money rolling like never before as I Make a Fortune on eBay! selling all the junk in my house!!! I am now starting to sell my neighbor's junk, too.

Now that I can Get Your 2 FREE Air Tickets, 2 FREE Hotel Nights, $100 FREE Cash, I have become a world traveler. I go from city to city, and as long as the spam keeps rolling in, I may never return, sort of like "Johnny on the MTA". I am snapping pictures like crazy now that I replied to Claim Your Complimentary Digital Camera.

Because I print out every spam message that I receive, I use a lot in inkjet cartridges. But, not to worry, I get 50-75% OFF your Printer Ink- Ink Blowout Sale!

Now for my personal life. I have had my teeth whitened so much with Get Your Teeth Whitened that the local Lighthouse commission wants to use my mouth as a backup to the Cape Cod lighthouse. Santa Clause may use me to lead his sleigh team this Christmas if Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer doesn't want to.

I have been keeping my libido going with Natural herbs that ignite the fire of desire. I have also sprinkled some of it on my wife's cereal in the morning (when she is not looking). If my wife leaves me as she has threatened to do a lot lately, I will consult my newest reference manual: The Ultimate Guide to Meeting Women!

What my wife likes best is that I now can Lose 30 lbs. in 30 days! She is encouraging me to continue on that diet for a whole year. She figures that at the rate of 30 pounds per month, in one year she'll be rid of me and my spam for good!!!

Here is some good British humor, from Luke and John, who put some "Earn a College Degree" spam to good use. They got their dog, Sonny, a PhD degree at Ashwood University.

With Apple's integration of the Intel processor sufficiently narrowing the gap between the former defining capabilities of a Windows based PC and Apple's Macintosh family. What we are left with are the differences within the operating systems itself. Beyond the physical distinctions of the operating systems we reach the image of the companies themselves. None however has a more profound impact upon the collective psyche then that of commercial advertisement.

In response to Apple's well written and amusing advertisements, Microsoft has released an onslaught of sub par responses containing the general message of “Your a Mac, but everyone else is a PC.” The pacing of which is such an overwhelming bombardment to the senses it leaves little time for a viewer to relate and say “I am a PC and I'm proud of it.”

Windows is without question the dominant home based computer operating system. They could easily create their own unrelated commercials without stooping to an unimaginative school yard mentality. By doing so unintentionally these 'commercial wars' have elevated their less successful competitors to a more even playing field psychologically. Their best interest for commercials would be to produce powerful unique imagery that highlights the brilliance and limitless wonders that a PC can offer. Instead of their string of nonsensical “Everyone's a PC” or “Hey Vista isn't that bad” commercials. I'm a PC and I deserve better.

Authors Note: There are many psychological cues within commercial advertisement. Note the general blue Mac wears to emphasize his coolness. Also check out the way his casual jacket is folded in at the top much like that of PC's business suit, it suggests that he can work and play.

Along the same lines as another post written here recently, it seems that those "low ink" warnings are still not much more than suggestions, according to this PCWorld article. There are some good reasons for those warnings, as senior staff engineer Brian Hilton, of the Rochester Institute of Technology, explains. "You always want to leave a buffer in the tank so that the printer never runs dry. There should always be a factor of safety included."

But independent researchers are finding in many cases a lot more ink than would be required for safety reasons being left in the cartridge before the printer shuts itself off. Is it a safety issue? A simple case of inefficient printer parts? Or are the printer manufacturers hoping to squeeze a few extra cents our of every ink cartridge purchase by making them come a bit earlier than necessary? The article has some ideas, and it's a good read for those looking to protect their printer and keep down printer maintenance costs.

To the beta OS. in Wacker PC's Blog

Posted by Pizzaboy192 Oct 16, 2008

I feel that the beta deserves some recognition. If you test a beta, you deserve recogniton too. Any person who decided to bash something, but has no idea what actually went on, should not bash, but should instead try a beta. I for one used betas alot. I followed the whole Longhorn Project, and was really dissappointed with the decision to scrap it for the 2003 kernel instead. I do like the idea that Microsoft will be offering public betas for Windows Vista2 (WIndows 7).

Now a beta is just a nice way of saying "it probably wont work".The only thing worse than "beta" is Alpha. The word alpha basically means "good luck getting this to work." Testing both beta and alpha software gives you great respect for people who write software. Look at the copies of Windows 95, 98, ME, and 2000. I have the "Abandonware" beta releases from Microsoft for each one.

Windows Chicago, was the beta for Windows 95, and running it was alot of fun on my test systems. I only got Chicago a few months ago, off an abandonware site. There were things in Chicago that were scrapped from 95, but released in other versions later. Things like a search function were supposed to included, and running Chicago on my test system, which just happens to be my power system, proved alot of fun. Tasks were really shakey, and it really wasnt stable, but the one suprise to me was that software that was "Designed for Windows 95" but was released in the same year, actually ran better, because Chicago was the "developers edition".

Windows Whistler, was the beta for XP. Whistler was quite shakey, it may have been the fact that I was not able to get my hands on the "release canidate" edition, but I was able to get my hands on an early beta version of it. It does feel like XP, but beefed up. The people at Microsoft really had alot planned for XP, but they had to remove alot to make it runnable on current systems. With almost all Windows Betas, they had to scale back, so that people would be able to actually run the system properly. If Microsoft would do something like release packs that would add features that were dropped, as hardware got better, we would see that XP had many plans, but little support hardware wise.

Then there is LONGHORN!

Longhorn was a "miracle" system. I loved the fact that the betas are readily available, and that there were even enough fans to try to finish what Microsoft had started. I was able to get my hands on Builds 4075, and the Longhorn Reloaded M1 builds. Longhorn reloaded was the attempted to fininsh the copy of Longhorn. The developers were told that they can continue Building the Reloaded edition, but they cannot actually distribute the iso file. The developers do not allow you to download it anymore, but word is that there may be a mod pack released to be added to the 4075 disk, and applys the necessarry patches, mods, and builds the ISO with the abandoned ISO from Microsoft. Using Longhorn was a BLAST. It uses windows XP drivers, but runs like vista. its almost both systems in one. and all the eyecandy! wow! even running this system in a VM, i was knocked out by how nice it was. the build was extremely flexable, and ran alot of VISTA only software. things like my copy of Halo 2 Vista, and the Direct X 10 redistrubitle installed without any problems. it is fairly buggy as of now, but i am looking foreward to the next release (if there is one). and if nothing else, i will take the project up myself, and help the underground developers finish it.

Windows Vista Beta

Wow... dissappointing. that is all i have to say, when compared to longhorn it is just a disaster. with the vista beta, you had alot of longhorn ideas, on windows 2003. i will give microsoft credit for improving their flop of a beta into a system that i use soley on all systems i own.

Windows 7 beta

Windows 7 M3 will be released soon, and i will blog about that seperatley. when it comes out, it will be installed onto a new partition or a seperate disk on my computer, and will be compared to vista and the longhorn. (rumors are that WINFS is back, along with lots of ideas from longhorn!)

thats right folks...

you can have your own genuine website for less than the cost of a new egronomic keyboard...

lets start with some hardware... you will want:

1 Computer

1 copy of apache server

1 highspeed intenet connection

1 operating system

1 disk with atleast 10gb

STEP1

Acquire a computer, i got mine from a local comunity collece, its a COMPAQ IPAQ, 800 MHZ celeron processor, 512 mb ram, 10 gb hdd, windows xp profressional. <no cd drive>

once you have your compuer, all you need to do is install apache web server... not to hard, its a great step by step installer...

<i have no idea how to make links here, so just google it...>

step 3

design your website, and post it into your apache webserver folder, wherever it is supposed to go... i think it is HT DOCS

step 4: plug in your network cable. and make sure that your computer has its own STATIC IP, and that you have either a VNC installed, or REMOTE DESTKOP enabled ( i did both)

step 5: poke a hole in your routers firewall to allow a webserver

step 6: get a dynamic dns address from www.dyndns.com

step 7, remove your monitor, mouse, and any other cable you can that still allows it to start (i have a keyboard controller on a usb dongle to keep it from crashing on boot up, because it does not boot without keyboard)

step 8: post your site here, so that others can see it

<end of dumb tutorial>
