Hi Everyone!!

I know I haven't been here in a while but, I too have been busy.

I did however manage to find the time to scoop-up a few other
programs that might interest you.

iZarc : This is a archive utility that will unzip almost ANY file format.

It also has quite a few other tools that I'm sure will be very useful.

IZarc ultimate Utility.

The next place I found interesting was HoverDesk.net

Here you will find a few more utilities to play with

HoverDesk.

This utility is for the Hard Drive. It will report on the health and other attributes of the HDD.

HD Tune is a hard disk utility which has the following functions:

    • Benchmark: measures the raw performance
    • Transfer Rate
    • Access Time
    • CPU Usage
    • Burst Rate
  • Hard Disk information which includes partition information, supported
features, firmware version, serial number, disk capacity, buffer size,
    transfer mode
  • Hard Disk Health
    • S.M.A.R.T. Information (*S*elf-*M*onitoring *A*nalysis and *R*eporting *T*echnology)
    • Power On Time
  • Error scan
  • Temperature display
  • Copy text to clipboard
  • Copy screenshot to clipboard

HD Tune

EFD Inspector

is a small program which gathers important information about your system.

Find it at the same site as HD Tune.

EDF Inspector .

*EDF*Software have a few more very interrseting little programs to monitor

your PC's Systems.

EDF Software .

I also have found this little application useful. It's along the lines of

HD Tune but, has a few more tweaks that you can add to your

Notebooks:

<!-- easy to use -->
Easy to use, friendly program surface and for free

NHC isn't only very powerful; it has a friendly program surface, it's
easy to use and free for private use. A large number of users
appreciate these advantages and NHC becomes one of the leading programs
to control the power and hardware of modern notebooks.

Hey people!!
I found another heat monitor that works with a notebook as well
as in your PC. This one might be a little more complete but,
has only a 21 day trial which after the trial some features are
grayed out.

Hey Everyone!!

I forgot all about a few "Gadgets" that were once part of my XP expirience.
These are for XP and Vista.
The first one is a Sidebar. This one came out long before Vista Cloned It.
You can add what you like and also many skins exist for your pleasure.

The next one is ffor your XP clock. This is a replacement clock in the notification area.
It is very customizable with many colors to choose from. It adds the date / day / month /
and obviuosly the time. This is For XP ONLY
And naturaly both of these are free

Flashorn and MPH, excellent document and information. Thank you, this one was really needed, IMHO. :)

(I often wondered where you kept all the different links to help people on the forums.... sticky notes....? papers all over the office...?) LOL :)

Good job Car!

MalwareRemoval.Com ought to have it's own sticky here in the forums somewhere. This is very useful for users ;) DriverMagic.Com is also fabulous.

I meant Good Job to Flashhorn. Sorry about that-- I saw Car as the last poster, we'll blame this on my head cold that I'm fighting. :(

Hey Adama!! Remember when I was asking for some kind of note pad that when I shut down I would not loose all of my notes?Well that's because the walls in the den are so full of sticky's that I was told by the Head Mistress to clean up or else. You don't want to know what the "or else" means.
Thank You Adama! As soon as I get the rest of the notes off the walls and sort them out, I will add to this WikiDocument. In the mean time Anyone with other sites are All welcomed to add to this.

Hey Car!! Thank You for the compliment.Missed your presence. If you are not aware of the Data Execution Prevention option in XP SP2 & Vista, it is well worth the look. I should have included the other sites that talks about this. The other site off the top of my head is http://www.updateXP.com
Thankx Car.

Hey coastie!! Thank You old hand!!! I'm glad you liked the YouTube video. It brought up some good memories for me also. I just hope some of the links provide some explanation on the stuff you might have been looking for.The link for the HJT tutorial is very good. To be able to read a HJT log takes a long time., but, I also think that we should be able to read our own PC's log. after all we know whats on there on what should not be there. This is a good start.
Thankx coastie

Hey techie!! Can I blame the error in spelling my name on the head cold too??Yes, I agree, we should have some kind of sticky for a reputable site for maleware only. The site that TeMerc is on is also a Very good one. You should suggest that to Kellie. This is one area we could all benefit from. As for DriverMagic , as long as the software does the intended or advertised job I have no complaints.
Thankx for your time techie.

lol, yes I'm not real hip on the idea that when someone adds to a Document, that their avatar shows up on the forum main page. Flashorn hit a winner with this Document! :-)

Hi Flashorn... I added a link that I thought might be useful for those wanting more information on on Windows XP Services... Which ones were essential, which ones could be set to manual, so that they only loaded if necessary, and which could be disabled. The link was for The Elder Geek site at http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm

Hey McB!!

Thank You but, can you not edit the Doc. Now i will have to do it . You know you are giving more work here. LOL!!!!
OK, I'll include the link the next time I edit. Do you have some thing similar for Vista? I could use a service cutting info.
site myself. I'll take a look at the link and post a review of it for you. Thankx McB. BTW. Did any of the links I posted
benefit you in some way? Don't be shy I won't cry LOL! It's just that If some of this stuff is useless then I will try and
find more useful apps. and services.

Hey Flashorn... Wish I could edit my comments, but apparently that's a no no in a document comment. :(

I found a similar site for Vista (which I still don't use... I guess that makes me a Luddite). It isn't as comprehensive as the Elder Geek site, but it's a guide for anyone not sure about which Vista Services they need to be automatically activated, and which they don't need activated unless necessary. The site is Speedy Vista at http://www.speedyvista.com/services5min.html
:)

Hey McB!!

Thank You very much . I will be looking at all of this shortly. I have been busy locating a notebook for my
"Mother" . Do you know how much work this involves. At 78 she decides that she is now ready to join the
rest of the online community. anyways, I will be out for the next few days "teaching" but as soon as I have a few
moments I will edit and of course include your invaluable help in the dedications.
Again thank you.

Excellent information andl inks! Thank you. By the way, a great site for software and really unbiased software reviews is www.neatnettricks.com. They have a panel of five or six reviwers really tear a apart software and then allow the developer to comment on what they had to say. Pretty interesting! Neat Net Tricks also puts out a really good newsletter (not too tekkie) and just resurrected their FREE newsletter (in addition to their subscribe only version). They've been around for fifteen years but are kind of an "insider thing" I guess.
