If, at any point, you have the need to change the homepage of your internet browser (whether because of a malicious infection or just because you want to), here are the steps you can take to change the homepage of either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox:

Internet Explorer:

  • Click on Tools -> Internet Options

  • Under the General tab, you should see a section for Home Page. Simply type in the web address you want as the homepage.

  • You have the option to make your homepage blank by selecting Use Blank. You can also select the current internet page by selecting Use Current

  • Click Apply and then Click OK

Firefox:

  • Click on Tools _> Options

  • Under the Main section, you will see a section called Startup

  • Type in the web address want as the homepage

Hey MPH!!

Your way is how everyone usually changes the home page. There is another way ,easier. I wish I could upload screen shots in here.
OK, on Internet's home page , underneath the tool bars, and on the right hand side, there is a little house with a vertical bar next to it.
click on the vertical bar and you have the option to change your home page right there with ought having to go in the TOOLS MENU.
When you click on the vertical bar you will see your home page on the top, the next option will be ADD or CHANGE HOME PAGE.
the third option will be DELETE ALL. I didn't want to start a new thread just to add screen shots. I hope my explanations are clear enough to follow.

Hi Flashorn. Yes, absolutely the way you mentioned is an easier option; however, I believe your suggestion is only available in Internet Explorer 7. I have not used Internet Explorer 6 in so long that I am not sure if that option is available within it. I am using Mozilla Firefox now and I know that is not available with it.

I wanted to cover the basics that each internet browser has. This way, no matter what version one uses, the person would have the ability to change the homepage.

Hi Flashorn,

Yeah, what you said is really there, next to the little house. Nice job. :)
