I have a little problem with my JVC. It is the 20GB model HDD. When I turn it on and slide it to the record mode, it is like the lens cap is on, there is no images. When I turn it to play what is in the HDD, then I can see what I have recorded. I can't figure this out, is there something wrong inside the lens that is causing this?

Inserting Captions Along With Digital Photos

I have a lil Kodak digital camera, only dig camera I ever owned. Works fine. I didn't like the software it came with so I download the card into Microsoft Picture/Fax viewer. Works just fine for my needs.

Obviously you can create a name for a folder to put these in. "4th of july ", for example, and then of course the photos come out as, "4th of july0001", etc. I know how to go back and rename the picture to, " uncle bob in the new boat", for example.

If sending a photo or two through the e-mail, a better description of the photo can be included in the text. " thats the boat Uncle Bob bought from the neighbor, took this picture just about .......", etc. In the old days we used to write a description on the back of the photo and send it on.

So, this is the question:

If I want to create a cd full of pictures and add a description for each one is there a way to do this? I know there are lots of programs out there for organizing photos, but I want something pretty simple. So far, the only way I know how to include a description is to include it as the "name" of the photot. Surely there is a better way.

I hope you can give me some suggestions.

As Always, Thank You,

They will generally explain how to deal with some common issues that have been previously discussed (some times multiple times) in the Digital Camera & Camcorders forum. The idea is that these documents might offer a solution to a problem that you might be having without you having to ask a question in the forum.

Are their any point and shoot cameras with an optical viewfinder and at least 10 times optical zoom? What is an electronic viewfinder and how does that work. I dislike the LCD screen--especially in the sun. Thanks so much

Hi I am looking for a good point and shoot camera to use on my trip to Spain, and I was wondering if anyone could help me choose (or eliminate) some of the cameras I am looking at. I have 5 candidates but I am open to suggestions.

My potential camera's requirements:
- Takes good pictures
- At least 10MP
- Must do decent video w/ sound
- Must be able to fit in a pocket
- Good quality build
- Aesthetically pleasing
- No AA batteries
- SDHC card compatible (sorry Olympus)

And here are the cameras I'm looking at:
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 link
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 link
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 link
Canon PowerShot SD940 IS link
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 link

Thanks for the input!

(PS: I am really eying the Lumix ZR1, but I really love the design of the Canon so much.)

? About Video Function In Digital Camera

Hi all,

I have a Kodak EasyShare C703 camera.
For my needs the picture and video quality are fine.

The only issue with my camera is that when I play back video, I hear a high pitched tone in the background.
Now that I've noticed it I can't ignor it.

I am wondering what cameras you have and if you hear the same thing.

This Black friday I may replace my kodak based on your feedback.
My cake and eat it too would be that it uses SD cards.

Thank you,
Don't own a scanner nor am I a "geek", photo or computer so need a plug it in, high-resolution "go" device. Also since this is a 1-shot project would hope for a reasonably priced hardware (under $100.) Anyone know of such a "magic wand"?

Which SD card brand is the most reliable?

I have been searching Amazon for a good SD card for my new camera, but each card I see seems to have several reviews saying that the card failed after only a few months or less. Which brand will be the most reliable? I was looking as Transcend and Kingston, are those good? I really only want a basic 4/8Gb SDHC card, I don't need a high-speed or otherwise fancy card. Thanks in advance!

Best Point and Shoot for concerts

I'm going to realize a lifelong dream to finally see The Moody Blues in concert this year. However, my Canon powershot A95 isn't going to get me decent concert photos and I am wondering what kind of point and shoot would work for both sneaking it in and still able to take decent photos. I'll be in the third row, but my Canon doesn't do all that well with it's 3x zoom. I've heard Fujis do well in low light and some Panasonics also. I've read so many reviews, I'm totally confused now. Any suggestions? A wide angle with at least a 5 speed zoom would be nice. Please help me decide.
