Droid/cellphone Battery Charging

I'm looking for some advice on cell phone battery charging. I recently purchased the new Motorola Droid and I love it. I have medium use on it during the day so when I go to bed I'm at about 40%-50% battery life. For this reason I plug it in every night.

My previous phone was the LG Dare. Granted it wasn't a smart/app phone or had the capabilities of my Droid, I could get by on that charging it once every week.

With my Dare, I had looked up battery tips and found many good ideas: Never talk on your phone while it is plugged it, never let the battery completely run out, always try to let it charge up fully before using it, etc. I have come to believe in these methods because the original battery my Dare came with lasted me a little over 1 1/2 years! The phone I had before my Dare was much worse, I had to get a new battery for that phone every 10-12 months.

MY QUESTION IS - Are there any battery tips for the Droid to help make the battery last as long (longevity) as possible?

I'm not talking about making it a full week before charging. I am fine with charging it every night as long as that won't hurt the battery. My brother has a blackberry and said he has to charge his every 1-2 days, sometimes more with heavy use.

Thanks for any and all help!!!

Maximum Transmission/reception Distance

im going on a cruise to Anchorage alaska and because im in the IT world, my job wants to be able to contact me in some sort of way...

so my question becomes,

of both the CDMA (verizon) and GSM (at&t) phone technology, what are the maximum transmission distances of each?

which phone would work better out in Anchorage AK? roaming is not a cost-effective option (plus i can't roam on t-mobile with the iphone)

in my real world test (Delaware coast), i was able to send text messages (verizon) from 3miles out on a boat on the ocean...
and with + x miles from the tower which was probably not direct line of sight or in a straight line with the boat, so possibly 4-5 miles??

on my cruise, texts will probably be the key thing, just quick info bytes here and there to keep the gremlins at bay back at home base

thanks

Gps Map

Hi all;
I am an happy owner of Oregon 550t and I would like to know which method or guide to follow to visualize on the gps more independent tracks pieces simultaneously and together with the preloaded map.
The problem is that if I load these tracks pieces as a single track (since in this gps is not possible to view more tracks at the same time), all the final parts of the pieces are connected with the beginning of the following piece making the vision very difficult.
For this reason I would like to to convert the track to a map and then import it in the gps and put on top of the preloaded map.
As an alternative i could first download the preloaded map from the gps to the pc, insert the track and import everything again.
Note that is not important that the gps follow this track, It could only show it for example like a river; I don't need any navigation function but only see the track with no connecting lines between the pieces.
Does someone of you know the procedure to do this as simple as possible?
All what I have now are hundreds of tracks in .plt or .gpx format not joined and tens of km one far from the other; I must visualize all of them and togheter with the preloaded map.
Thank you for every suggestion.

Ereader Capabilities

I am interested in the Sony line of ereaders and have not been able to find the answers to two questions.

First, is the rechargeable battery replaceable?

I read a review of the Kindle on one site and he said that when his battery died, he had to send the Kindle back and get another one for a reduced price since the battery was not replaceable (I assume).

Second, can the any of the available ereaders use the AC adapter plugged in to run the reader if the battery dies?

I'll settle for whatever reader brand can satisfy the two above requirements.

Thanks for any info.

I just ordered one since I do rent movies from Amazon and sent them to my TiVo. I thought it would be nice to have access to that with a portable device. Plus it's based on Android so I am hoping I can run a lot of the Android software out there.

Anyway, if anyone has one of these, I'd love to hear what you use it for and what you think of it.

Has anyone actually used the new HTC HD2? Wondering how it is to type on that touch keypad? The whole phone looks much larger than an iPhone, and thus I am hoping it is easier to type on. As much as I hate large devices, I'm starting to realize that if I want to have a better typing experience, I'm going to have to get a physically larger phone.

Ideal Headphones For Iphone?

I presently have the Bose headphones (quiet comfort?) that have noise cancellation (not the II version, but the older one).

They are great on a plane, but way to bulky to suit me. I've thought about the in-ear kind, but never tried them and also wonder about the ability to hear a conversation if I need to, without removing them.

So,I was wondering if there were decent in-ear phones that block out sound but maybe have a microphone included which, if you hit a control button, cuts out whatever is playing on the phone while passing through outside sounds. Seems I heard of something like that years ago, but maybe it was for a more normal over the ear type headphones.

Would be nice to have all the controls possible on the cable, but if necessary, I could just control things from the iphone itself.

A related question has to do with bluetooth headphones. I think the OS is now supposed to let you listen to your music through a bluetooth setup, but when I ask about it at the Apple store, they say they don't have anything yet. Any options out there?

Finally, since you can use a bluetooth device for phone calls and I think you are supposed to be able to use a bluetooth headphone for music, I was wondering if it was possible to that you could have a typical phone headset design that could ALSO let you listen to music or podcasts, etc. Most of the time, I would be quite content to just have something in one ear, especially since I mostly listen to podcasts. In any case, it would be nice to have the flexibility.

Minutes And Texting On At&t

This is going on what i have experienced with verizon and i think but i dont know about at&t
i just got the at&t plan a few months ago

with verizon, you can call any U.S. verizon number and it won't count toward the monthly minutes (verizon IN-calling)

is at&t's m2m calling is the same thing?

and my texting question is

if you have a limited texting plan on at&t, does sending texts to other at&t subscribers count toward that limit?

m2m on verizon is texts to other verizon numbers and doesn't count toward the limit

any enlightenment will be helpful
