Any Advantages Of A Crt Over Lcd?

I know it is virtually impossible to buy a new CRT monitor but there are many used ones available at cheap prices. Would there be any advantage today of a CRT monitor over an LCD?

Hi,

I was thinking about going with the SP2309W http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-sp2309w/4505-3174_7-33456038.html?tag=mncol;lst
What do you think?

I want an affordable monitor (something less expensive than the Dell 2408W) with 1920x1200 native res. Since I game and watch movies it should have good response time and picture quality. Hope it's not asking too much.

Thanks

Samsung Monitor Opinions Requested, Please

Hello,

Will be getting a new PC, and going thru the "agony" of trying to decide what monitor to get.

Have narrowed it down to a 20" Samsung, and between these two monitors.
Hard to decide, as the local Best Buy, or anyone else, only had the 2033 model, which I liked very much. Couldn't see the other one I mention below.

The specs are similar, but different enough to ask for your opinions and help:

a. Samsung P2070 20"
$200
2 ms response time, which I guess is very good.
250 cd/sq m
and a very good contrast ratio of 50,000:1

Or, a Samsung 2033SW 20"
$170
and a 5 ms response time.
a bit brighter at 300 cd/sq m
poorer contrast ratio of 15,000:1

Will be using it mainly for text, and the internet of course.
Minimal game playing, but a fair amout of videos.

Is it that one of these is a "newer" version, meant to replace the other perhaps ?

Any and all opinions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Monitor Blackout Using Hdmi Cable

What do you think is the problem guys? When i plug in my HDMI cable it boots up just on the loading bar of the OS but after that, on the log in screen it will totally be blackout. although i hear the sound of
logging in.so im sure it went in to windows it just that it doesn't have a display.

Monitor - Dell S2409W
VC- Nvidia GeForce 8200
Cable - Belkin HDMI Cable

It worked once and its really nice on the videos i've watched. i've also tried to play Nba live but after i close nba live. that's when it started to blackout.

*tried booting up in safe mode.and it works fine it safe mode. the problem is just on the normal boot up.

update:
i've lowered my resolution to 1280 by 720 from 1920 by 1080. and I can boot up properly. The only problem now is I cannot play nba live. It still blackout. ;D

Does this mean that my VC cannot maximize the resolution for my LCD monitor?

Monitor Size Question

looking to get a new monitor in the next couple days. I'm a little concerned with the size. Right now i have a 17 inch LCD at 1280 x 1024. to me this monitor really isnt big at all and my dads 19 inch wide screen LCD at 1600 x 900 really doesn't look big either. Will a 22 be too big. i really cant find a nice enough 20 inch. i do get motion sickness but i was playing games in front of my 37 inch tv downstairs and never got sick and i was even sitting right at the screen so maybe im just overacting. will a 22 be too big for fps games. will it just take getting used to. non gaming my eyes are 26 inches away from the monitor and while gaming my eyes are just over 3 feet away.

Best Lcd Monitors For Multimedia / Design

I'm looking for a new LCD monitor between 20in. and 27in. to serve as a new primary monitor. I am currently using the 15.4" screen on my laptop, which is really starting to take a toll on my eyesight.

This theoretical monitor will also help me fill some desk space in a new apartment I've recently moved into. I'm looking for something that will also work well for watching movies on a couch five to six feet away from the desk.

I am utterly ignorant about what brands of monitors I should be looking for. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Monitor Refresh Rates

Hi everyone
My question is that I thought I read somewhere that a higher monitor refresh rate is better on the eyes as far as strain and fatigue. Was that for the older CRT Monitors, or does that also include the LCD type of monitor. I have tried switching my monitor to 75HZ from the 60HZ setting, but it somehow was switched back? Is Windows or NVIDIA trying to correct my ignorance, or should I try to "force" it, you know, get out a bigger hammer. Thanks for any help you can give me in understanding refresh rates.
