I wanted to use Pelican Linux OS to show how high performance clusters(HPC) work but when i boot using liveCD or install it on my hard disk either ways when i try connect using my laptop as the primary pc and the older ones as secondary and log on to pelican only my friend's laptop is detected, when it try's to connect to-it connects but just stops in between, you know kind of like hanging.Whereas the older desktops are not even detected,I even changed their bios to boot through network but nothing happens..
Please help me in anything that can be done to solve the problem..
What can we actually do with HPC computers are their any softwares that can be used to show the increase in performance..
I used network to connect all this..
This actually for an exhibition in my school,So i had thought of undertaking this!
Please help me with this

you will find that there are very few applications that can effectively use clustering to any real benefit. The network is usually the weak link. The controller needs to be running dual gigabit network (or faster if you can) and you will want Gigabit links to each machine. Anything slower than that will result in your machines waiting for data more than processing it.
Beyond that - it has been way too long since I have done this, you may want to look for more specialized forums for this sort of thing.

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" -- Isaac Asimov
