For some time now Elements v4.0 has failed after uploading my images from my card reader. If you have Elements installed and insert your digital compact flash stick into the reader that's Elements clue to jump to and try and run the show but it quickly fails. Here's the sequence:Compact flash inserted into card readerElements activatedThe images are selected that are to be transferred to a specific folder on the computer hard driveClick OK or whatever to confirm the process and Elements completes the transfer process. Now Elements wants to run as the editor. It immediately begins to look for files that were previously handled prior to this transfer however it can't find some of these files because after transfer they have been given a more make sense name and the old name no longer exists. Error Message: Searching for missing file (followed by a generic name like IMG23168.jpg)It will search the entire computer if you allow it. If you choose to stop the search process by clicking the Browse button you get the dreaded error message: Adobe Photoshop Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close. Error code: c0000005Address: 39e22109If you allow the search process to scan your entire computer the same error message will eventually appear.I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no avail. Must be something in the registry left behind.Operating Sys: Windows XPOther Adobe products: Photoshop CS2Acrobat v5
