Nintendo- Do You Think They Will Ever Endorse/allow Homebrew Code?

After tinkering around with a lot of random homebrew apps available on the Wii and DS, it kinda feels like a shame that Nintendo is constantly trying to keep people from running home-written code. I know there's the concerns about piracy, but I still feel like it's not impossible for Nintendo to reach an ultimatum with the homebrew community concerning piracy and whatnot, and allow them to freely do what they wish with that little white thing in their closet beginning to gather dust.

What do you guys think?
