Iam new to the forum, and i probably could have looked deeper to find the answer, oh well here goes, I have a HP Photosmart 7280 all-in-one printer which i have been using wireless with a PC and 2 other laptops on a wireless network, probably 2 months ago I lost the desktop icon and cannot use scanner mode or even the HP solution dashboard to appear, it will print and I have even tried to uninstall which I cant because it is not on my add or remove programs and on reinstalling software it starts and then comes up with a screen that say`s newest version already installed please use usb and windows will automatically recognize, Iam running windows xp and have tied the usb prompt to no avail, very perplexed, someone tell me this is a simple fix ? P.S.about had it with HP printers :((

Open device manager (devmgmt.msc), go to Printers, and uninstall the HP. Unplug it, then plug the printer back in. The driver should be reinstalled. A few years ago, my dad bought a HP printer (this was to be used in a lab with Windows 2000 systems). We couldn't get the drivers to work. We returned that and got a cheap Brother, which has been working fine since (actually, since then I've gotten a Brother network laser printer, which works well except for long warmup times).

Hello mynewpc,

You could also try deleting the printer by going to the Control Panel > Printers. Then you could look for the software for the printer under Program Files by going to the Local Drive C: > Program Files and searching for the software. If you see it click on the folder and check to see if there is an uninstall app within the folder. Also ensure you check HP's website for other possible solutions. http://h10025.www1.h...product=3204785

Hi! I have noticed your problem and realized that you should read the manual of this printer and visit the hp printer service center. Thanks!
