In Word - How do I underline blanks? If I'm underling and there are blanks at the end of the line they lose that attribute, but if I use "underline characters" ___ they do not line up with letters that are underlined.

You must add a nonbreaking space at the end of the line you can do this from the insert symbols menu or simply hold down <ctrl><shift> then hit space bar.
