Hi All,Im new to this so be gentle... Having error message occur on IE7 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. I have tried looking through microsofts help page and got rapidly confused. Im not a simpleton where computers are concerned, but like simple things thrown at me.I fixed the problem temporarily about a week ago, I think with a spyware destroyer, but problem has returned today. I have run a registry fix, and again a spyware program to try and eliminate problem. Have also reset all the internet explorer settings, like temp files, cookies etc. Still nothing.... I am running Windows own firewall and AVG Antivirus, don't think its anything to do with them though... Looking through various forums, it was suggested returning to Windows Media Player 10 from 11, which I have done, again, didn't work.... Anyone know of a sure way to eliminate this problem, as getting ever so slightly disgruntled with modern technology now, haha! Thanks Guys:lol:

I have had this problem since upgrading (?) to IE 7. About half the time I get the page described in the subject when trying to connect to a web site, including Google, which is my home page. I have not discerned any pattern or particular web site associated with this error. I can eventually pull up the web site by refreshing, sometimes once, and at other times three or four tries are required. The page itself is no help as it tells you that the possibilities are that you don't have a connection, or that the web site is down, etc, etc. This is a very annoying, but not show stopping problem, since I can eventually pull up the web site if I am patient enough. I have Norton AV and Zone Alarm active, but I do not know if they contribute to this problem. Sorry I can't be of more help

Hi jammiebird, dlalfano,I'm having a similiar issue and cannot display any webpages in ie7 or ie6. MSN Messenger 7.5 or Live also fail to connect to the service. All of the following actions have not resolved the problem... Un-install ie7 and its Security updates back to ie6 Run ie7 with out add-ons Install MSN Messenger Live (messenger still didn't work) Ran the Network diagnostic utility obtaining the following results - info FTP (Passive): Successfully connected to ftp.microsoft.com - warn HTTP: Error 12002 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The operaton timed out - warn HTTPS: Error 12002 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The operaton timed out Looked at going to a previous Restore Point, but feature had been disabledAdditional actions added via Edit.. Scanned system using AdAware, Spybot, AVG. Tracking cookies removed. No viruses found* ie7 also does not open local hard disk pages (tested after reading a similiar thread)ie7 had been working fine for at least a month. This fault started around the time of the Feburary Security updates. A complete system rebuild <sigh> is looking the only option. I do miss MSN Messenger. Any alternative advice would be very much appreciated. The one positive out of this experience is the exposure to the Firefox browser. The installation of Firefox was successfully. I may never go back to ie.CheersAj

Wow !!!! It sounds like you have tried a lot, without any sucess.... I myself shut off auto updates in late Nov / early Dec.....I kinda seen all this coming with the release of Vi$ta on the horizen.....unfortunately you did not. I have heard of many probs with IE7, in a diff forum that I was in  We have been battling these issuse for a couple months now, yours is a slightly diff version of the kinds of things we have heard. What kind of PC is this ? I know that a destructive recovery is kinda radical, if you even have that option......Or if not you should have recovery discs.......If you go this route, I recommend that you limit your windows updates......

This post is coming to you from Internet Explorer 7!!! HiJack This got me on the right track as it reported "odsp.dll" as unknown. I started searching for "odsp.dll" and found the web-site article below which associated the dll with Aventail who provides SSL VPNs (Secure Socket Layer Virtual Private Networks) through your browser. I had attempted to connect to my work place around the same time this problem occurred.[url]http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/15074.html_The Aventail had no un-install features and I was unable to click delete from the Manage add-ons found under Internet Properties / Programs. So the fix was...1. Under Application Data I manually deleted Aventail folder2. odsp.dll was in use, so renamed it from a Command Prompt window and rebooted3. Started Internet Explorer 7 without add-ons (under [Start] / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools)4. Tried browsing to http://www.google.com.au which failed5. Clicked the "Diagnose Connection Problems" to start the "Network Diagnostics for Windows XP" 6. The diagnostic found a problem with the OnDemand LSP (I'd removed at step 2), I selected Yes to remove this LSP and rebooted.Wahoo - IE7 and Messenger Live are now working. OK - IE7 vs Firefox - I quite like Firefox now, especially invoking the search feature by simply typing the word you are looking for, and I think it's quicker too.
