Hello friends,

I have recently purchased a digital camera. But now I am looking to buy camera filter. I am looking for filter which should be specially designed, good quality, protect my camera from scratch and dust. So do you know any website where I can purchase camera filter of best quality.

I always recommend a quality Tiffen or Hoya UV filter to my beginning photography students.

UV filters do two things-
1. They filter out UV light produced by the sun, UV casts a purple tint in some outdoor scenes.
2. They protect the external lens element from dust, dirt, and scratches

A circular polarizing filter helps with reflections off of water and windows

A star filter produces stars from small points of light in the picture (water and sunlight, Christmas lights, glass, etc.)

A neutral density filter helps for exposure compensation, meaning you can over/underexpose a picture without blowing out the highlights or producing deep shadows

A small note- What is the make/model of your camera and lens? Is it a Canon Rebel T2i, Nikon D40, Sony Alpha 350? Is the lens an 18-55mm Kit with a 58mm filter size? (that is the kind of info I need)
I cannot recommend a filter size or brand on a generic camera reference (different brands filters work better on different brands of cameras)

http://www.adorama.com/ is my preferred online store for buying filters
Even the experts started out as beginners
