I am starting to get familiar with Linux because my Dell computer will become obsolete in 5 years with Windows. With Linux I can get 15 years out of my Dell. After Windows 9, it's Linux(Ubuntu probably) into the future.

James, I'm almost starting to think the same thing, instead of having to continually buy an OS upgrade, it would be nice to start considering a Linux distro. Yet, will I, probably not, as I like, or am used to, the Windows OS, and my business software runs on Windows.

With all the compatibility issues, I wouldn't. Also, I think this was a spam post - see how Bcappel removed a spam link?

I wondered about it to, as far as it being spam, but thought I would give him the benefit of a doubt in that he had 9 posts (thus hadn't been removed from the forum), and I was able to click on his link, which was to his helps/best of free utilities web page. I was going to call him out on his shameless self promotion of his web site, but I was in a good New Years mood :D

There was a member here about a year or so ago, who did have some really good insights, tricks and helps, yet was promoting his web site to, with a link. It looks like his site has really grown and done well http://www.askvg.com/ I think that's what jimsing was hoping for.

Linux is a bit easier on older hardware (2001 and up) and so i do see you getting 15 out of the machine OS wise, especially with upgrades like new cpus, motherboards etc.
