In my experience all the "rugged storage" in the world doesn't protect me from the one item that has destroyed usb thumb drives for me. I have the rugged thumb drive in the usb slot, sticking out from the desktop or from the laptop, and somebody bangs into it bending the usb plus. Happens once. Happens twice. Eventually you get failure.

I liked the Buffalo CloudStor device the best. Cheap NAS box.

A combination of "best" and "worst", using a much shorter list, would have been received much more positively that the sad, sour "worst" list and the all-are-wonderful "best" list. Balanced journalism, people.
