When customizing Dell and HP desktops since Vista's release only an integrated sound card is offered. Why?

Could be driver issues with Vista, or it could be because for the majority of people out there integrated sound is sufficient. Have you tried just their regular lines or have you looked at the higher end gaming lines? If anything, you could just go out and buy a sound card and install it yourself, probably less of a premium that way.

I have a different question about that. I thought that you couldn't install a sound card if an integrated card was inside already.

ya you could put a new sound card in and cancel the integrated card and make the non-integrated card u main source thats what many people i know do and that is also like wise with graphics cards

The usually easiest way is going through Device manager and disabling the integrated controller, then boot the plug-in card up [sound or graphic, either one].
