Soon the government, in its unrelenting quest to protect morons from themselves, will force manufacturers to disable texting if the built-in GPS determines that the device is in motion.
With such safeguards in place, the self-regulation of moron numbers through their propensity for self destruction has been thwarted, ensuring their ever increasing representation in the gene pool.

I understand if this would have being done by a by-standard. But this was filmed by the surveillance team. If we demand privacy from Facebook, should we not demand privacy from the Mall's surveillance department ?
I agree she getting a lawyer and suing is just her trying to get her 15 min of fame though.

#2 This clod idiot could have easily walked right into a toddler and crushed their soft cranium into that hard mall floor.
Since we're posing scenarios...

Not for walking into the fountain while texting (although the video should serve as a warning to those not paying attention to where they're going), but for her obvious self-promotion and grand standing.
Moron, fool, imbecile, miscreant, and waste of the air we could all be breathing!!!

You got up and walked away, with no indication of distress. Nothing that would make security think "She might be hurt". No limp, you didn't stop and sit down, nothing.
No one could tell who it was from the grainy, low-res video - any embarrassment you have from the video being released is your own damn fault for putting your name out there. Otherwise it'd be some anonymous woman, not 'you'.
If you do something this stupid you suck it up - so you're embarrassed, that's the normal consequence for doing something stupid. You just deal with it and learn your lesson.

So, while part of me says, give it a rest. You tripped and fell into a fountain. That's funny. It would be funny to you if you watched someone else do it. So what, you're embarassed, understandibly so, move on and laugh.
There's the other part that feels the release of this, without her consent, is perhaps a bit negligent. These cameras are there for security purposes only. The age-old debate about these cameras is security vs privacy. The cameras exist to provide security and anything witnessed by them that isn't a matter of security, really should fall on blind eyes. It's the only way we can trust these cameras to watch our collective backs, and not wield a stronger power over our livelihoods.
