I have McAfee Virus Scan provided via my Comcast Broadband service. From the inception I have been unable to get a complete scan as it freezes my computer solid every time it reaches the file C:I386RSMW.CH. (The file following this is RSTRUI.EX).Attempts to get help from McAfee or Comcast have been futile. Can anyone suggest what might be happening here?

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi : I have read somewhere of recent problems of security "services" offered by Comcast; regardless of that, I ALWAYS recommend do NOT use the security "services" offered by an Internet Service Provider. They are "stripped down" versions from the original Vendor. McAfee I always recommend NOT having on a computer, since they have a reputation of having "bloatware" product(s), which use up a computer's Memory. Therefore, I recommend you COMPLETELY REMOVE it, which MAY require the use of one of McAfee "Removal Tool(s)", depending on WHICH years product you have !? More important than virus protection is antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN protection; do you have any such program(s) on your computer ? If not, I recommend the Good & FREE "AVG Antispyware" from www.ewido.net . Do you have a software firewall ? A router is NOT sufficient protection .

Thank you SPIRITWIND for your reply, and accept my apologies that I don't have time right now to reply properly, but letting you know I will ASAP - hopefully tomorrow (Saturday, 2/17). Thanks again, DR
