It would certainly give the PlayBook a big leg up with app developers even if it were restricted to readily repackaging Android apps for it. As has been said before "It is all about the apps". Right now iOS and Android dominate. The base OS is one thing, but most of the functionality of modern devices comes from third party apps. That's a major handicap to WebOS and the existing Blackberry OS.
