Yeah, you shouldn't trust the drive anymore. You may be able to do this a few times before the drive stops working completely, so you may as well freeze it again if there are still some files you didn't get off it. I'm glad to hear this worked for you!
Once you've gotten everything you need off it, you may as well stick it in the freezer again (WITH water in the bag

), and then break all the ice off for fun. Just don't expect the drive to work after that.

(note: I tried that once on a drive that was dying just for the fun off it, I didn't need any data off it. Once I did that, and then opened the drive and wiped the water off the platters, the drive didn't even spin up, it just made REALLY loud noises.)
