I'm only looking to spend one or two hundred so "good" quality is relevant to a low price range. :)

I'm wondering if any camera does both image and video good enough to where I should get it all in one unit. Otherwise maybe I'll buy for one or the other and get both a camera and camcorder at some point.

The Panasonic FP8 is suppsoedly good at both images and HD video, but then some sya it's not good at all.

I am considering the Canon A3100IS, but it's only good at images and has bad video (and not HD).

The Kodak zi8 camcorder is supposedly very good at HD 1080p video considering it's less than $100, but then the images would be bad because the camera portion is only 5,P with no flash, no zoom, and no stabilization.

Canon 60D or Pentax K-7 are the SLR's that do great HD video... but they come with some $800 price tags.

I've already been readinc CNET for a few days and talking to people on a camera forum. It's starting to seem like the Panasonic ZS5 or ZS6 is where to go.

I would like Kodak seriers. It can shoot with great quality. One feature i like most is that it is water resistant.

Canon has been producing and developing some of the best cameras in the world for many years. I currently own a Canon EOS Rebel T2i 550D and absolutely love it. It is above the price range you are looking at, but I think Canon is the brand you should go with. The Canon ELPH 100 HS digital camera is very compact and takes quality pictures for the price range. It is even capable of taking video in 1080P. It is very affordable at roughly $150-$200. Definitely worth a look before you purchase something else.

Digital cameras have made remarkable strides in the video recording department. You can now purchase still cameras, even digital SLRs, that boast high definition video recording. So you may be wondering why exactly you should even bother with a camcorder at all?
