Well, the short story is, I went to make a copy of something for my mother and the printer was dead ( No power ). It showed the the printer was Disconnected, which I guess it would under the circumstances. I checked everything and all looked good. I am assuming that the power adapter has gone south. I found one on ebay and ordered it, so we'l see if my assumption is right. The printer was bought in May '07, so I guess it is time for something to go ( besides the ink ). They had a bunch on ebay. Mostly Hong Kong knock offs for $16.41. I got an OEM for $19.95 with FREE shipping. Guess I'll have to use the phone to make a copy for my Mother ( it is a Copier & Fax as well ).

Hi coastie,

Hopefully you'll get your power adapter soon enough and be rollonig again.

Amazing phone you have.

My nokia has a camera, FM tuner, and mp3 player and by todays standards is achient technology.
My son just get a new upgrade on his phone and its the lastest thing.
HD screen to boot.
Don't recall the model.

Hey Rommel, The phone is a Sharp and is also a Fax as well as Copier. Caller I.D. comes up on it as well. I'm still in Land Line mode and haven't gotten a cell as yet. Maybe one of these days. This C5180 AIO has been good for sure and I've had no complaints. I have Photo paper in there has well as regular paper and that thing makes really good photos ( uses a lot of ink though ). Anyway, I am assuming it is the Power Adapter as I couldn't find anything else. We'll see.

My sister just got a wireless printer, I told her to read and follow the instructions and not call me. :D My brother got one too as did my Brother-in-Law. The only wireless stuff I have around here at the moment is the Lappy and PS3.

 you're on your own sister, lol. When I had my wireless running at home, sometimes my Lexmark would print 1 page, and then 1/2 through the 2nd page would freeze up, and I would have to unplug the power pack to clear it. If I wanted to make sure something would print all the pages, I would plug my notebook into it using the USB cable. As we've talked about before, sometimes it's just better to keep things simple and worry free. :)

Coastie: A quick check with a multimeter would have confirmed whether the AC adapter was the problem rather than throwing $20. at it and hoping for the best. I had a Canon that blew a small pico fuse on the PCB and it was my first test, the adapter was still good. After pulling the case off and plugging the adapter in, I confirmed where the 7.2 volts DCC wasn't getting past the fuse. A little work with a solder sucker and a hot iron, the tiny one amp fuse was replaced and things were returned to normal. While I had it apart, I cleaned all the rollers and found a small torn off corner of paper stuck in the gear on the roller shaft and the motor that drives it. Cause and effect. After checking with the user (wife), she did reveal that she had pulled a sheet out when it stopped before exiting the unit and it had a torn corner. It seemed to work okay for a week afterward but then failed on power up one morning.

lol, I didn't even really catch that one. Boy, there is something nice about that though, where you can go somewhere and not have to have a phone, and have a little space and time out from it all.

Wait, if your phone has a built in copier - where do I get one?! Mine will let me image all kinds of crap... But it doesn't have a built in printer! :D

Try a Canon. I have one that I have been using for over a year now - scan, print, everything over the wireless network. It works flawlessly. Until the sucker drains those little 4oz color cartridges... one at a time.

lol, the thirsty little bl$$d suckers. Thanks for that tip, as I've had 2 Lexmark's, and believe it or not, the one I used wireless with Vista worked pretty consistently, maybe something to do with my now Windows 7 OS and drivers? Anyway, thanks for that tip, and also the one about Lenovo's nice touchpads. :)

AH dang it! Way to kill that buzz. A cell phone that was a scanner/copier/printer/etc would just be..... big. Never mind then. :)

No trouble at all.

And while I make fun of the ink tanks, I can't complain really - I figured out it costs me about 1/10th of what HP wants for a similar caliber printer. And my last Canon lasted 6 years before dying - hopefully this one will too!

I can't complain about my HP although I do grumble when I go to print something and one of the tanks is empty and I don't have a replacement. Hopefully it is in the morning as HP will overnight a new one ( Walmart & Staples always seem to be in short supply of the 02 cartridges ) for FREE.

Don't we all? Shoot, what bothers me is when it tells you that one color is low/empty and nothing else... so you go out and buy that color, just to have another run dry 5 pages later.

This HP, gives the levels in all the cartridges and tells you which one is getting low. Geez, I thought I checked everything yesterday, but I noticed something and checked, The plug wasn't all the way into the Power Adapter, so wasn't making contact. I pushed it the rest of the way in and all is good once more. :P Looks like I'll have an extra Power Adapter.

You're so honest, coastie :)

I guess my "Checking" was a bit lacking. :D :P I picked it up and looked at and checked where iwas plugged into the UPS and Printer as well as the USB connection. One wire that runs from the Adapter to the UPS / Wall socket ( which ever you use ) and I didn't check the one end, just took it for granted that it was plugged all the way in and making contact.
