There really isn't "compatibility" to be concerned with for GPUs and CPUs. There are certain motherboards which have slots for certain graphics cards (e.g. PCI-E, AGP) and certain processors which will bottleneck certain graphics cards... but that's really a lot of information to get into.

I have to install a new gpu with the old drivers still installed, is this going to be a problem? I can't exactly put the old one back in and my motherboard doesn't have onboard video. I just want to do this right as this is my first build all of my own and I got a bad card the first time. I am installing a different AMD card, the first one was a hd7870 and this one is a hd6970.

Hi peeps. Need some advice on upgrading Compaq deskop for gaming. I know its not the bet computer for this purpose, but just want to get it performing the best that it can with a new video card & ram etc. If somebody here could check out the specs for my computer & mobo & possibly give me some links for what I need to get, it would be much appreciated. Check out this link for my computer.Cheers. http://h10025.www1.h...tle_r0002#N1145
