this has happened to me: it brings up a fake scan thingie, and i just restart Chrome using task manager

It happened to me too. What makes it really scary is that I wasn't searching for something incredibly popular like the royal wedding. I was trying to find an image of a WWI Sopwith Camel. If sites with pictures that relatively obscure are compromised, what IS safe?

I've noticed this happening a lot in the last several weeks. I use AVG so I get a warning from it telling me that the site is malicious, I also get one from Google, VERY glad both are on top of it.

This happened to me several times recently. I eventually read that an ctl-alt-del was the solution. I use Avast AV & it didn't catch or stop it. ;o(
