I have been printing a lot of colour pages with this one and am often facing "Ink Out" messages on the printer control panel and the "Get Levels" screen via the driver. Trouble is I am now shaking two catridges and can feel and hear a LOT of ink, yet the "Replace" messages refuse to change. They are made by Jettec in the UK and the retailer insists this make will use "more of the ink than the original Epson cartridges".
Why does'nt ANY make use all of the ink, does it take rocket science to detect an empty plastic case?!

There's no economic incentive to create an efficient ink cartridge. Inefficient is more profitable.

I've often wondered what would happen if someone made an inkjet printer with user-refillable cartridges, then posted the formula for the ink online so that any competitor could make and sell it.

The printer would have to sell at a higher price in order to be profitable (most printers are sold at a loss on the assumption that the profits will be in the ink). But maybe enough people would buy an expensive printer to get cheap ink. I know I would.

When people complain about the high price of gasoline, I think "Be glad your car doesn't run on inkjet printer ink."

This gets worse. I replaced the magenta n light magenta from a diferent retailer, OEM cartridges no name. Guess what my prints are coming out very pink and I cannot edit it out with the DTP nor the Epson driver. Clearly these new inks are more concentrated and my output is rubbish!

I think you should refill your ink cartridges and install the refilled print cartridge in the printer. Thanks!
