As we do every year, PC World is beginning to compile its list of the best 100 tech products available. This year, we'd like your help! We're looking for nominations of great products, sites, and services. Nominating a product is simple: Just pick one of your favorite tech products, web sites, or services and tell us why you think it belongs on our list. In the coming weeks, we'll take your nominations, add in some of our own and begin debating which products belong on the final list. That's it. Thanks for your help, and happy nominating!- Eric Dahl, Senior Editor @ PC World

My vote goes to Timecard Monitor - a must for any business that wants to have confidence that its paying hourly employees "earned" compensation. This very affordable (costs less than a timeclock) employee time-tracking software, made by Chicago-based Count Me In, LLC www.countmeinllc.com comes in six different editions to meet the needs and budgets of virtually any business -- from those with just two employees to companies with thousands working in different departments or locations. Already a recipient of numerous "best product" awards, Timecard Monitor's proprietary fingerprint recognition technology captures an accurate account of employee arrival and departure times with two taps of their finger or thumb on a digital sensor. If your goals are to say goodbye to buddy-punching, paying people for hours they didn't work, and fooling around with timecards -- this is a great solution:!:No more totaling employee hours or re-entering data into payroll software because it seamlessly integrates with QuickBooks (and other leading payroll and accounting programs.) From its most basic, the Lite Edition, essentially a computerized timeclock, to the more sophisticated Premier and Client Server Editions that provide in-network access to view and audit employee time and attendance and even process payroll, Count Me In covers the bases. And, with Timecard Monitor's add-ons and modules, productivity-driven businesses can monitor, track and manage employee labor activity. Check it out... www.countmeinllc.com

I know that I am asking for it, but for the First nomination today for new tech will have to go to the famously, most unanimous-not-to-be a nominee: PS3! I know that you are thinking WHAT! Look at it like this: This system is not the best system, at the time but give it time it will kick in. This is the only machine that you can buy for $600 and have about 6 systems in one. If you look at it from a technological stand point it is second to none. PS1 check, PS2 check, DVD check, CD's check, and last and certainley not least: Blu-Ray Check. Add to that it is wireless, plus bluetooth, and other features. I really don't mean to sound like a Sony salesman, but DAMN that is a lot to offer at $600. Nothing else offers that much at that price. IF and I do mean IF you look at it as a Player for every format that is alive , it is astonishing. Xbox Fanboys, please don't reply cause you will give me a totally bias point and I am not looking at it from YOUR point of view, but from a technological point!! Thank You! Have a great day!

{size:18px} Hi : I am unsure if my recommendation for one of the top ( & FREE ) antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program "qualifies" in one of the categories, but in case it does, I nominate "SUPERantispyware" available from www.superantispyware.com . They also have a "paid" version called "Professional" which has more features. Some of the experienced, trained, volunteer Malware Experts on several Online Support Forums are starting to recommend it to their "clients" to install it . Of course, I have had it on my computer for about a year.

This was originally posted by johnarama and was accidentally removed. Here is is again.Well, I can't narrow it down to just one so here's two:1) http://www.zamzar.comIt's a file-conversion website, extremely useful, that lets you convert file types right on their web page. You can easily convert a jpg to a gif, a wav to mp3, etc..., even video files. Very reliable and easy to use.2) http://www.gigatribe.comGigaTribe is free software that lets you and your friends access each other's harddrives. You can share/download entire folders at a time, and even view pictures as thumbnails on your friends' PC before you download them. Great way to exchange huge files with friends and give different friends different access to specific folders on your PC.Hope this is helpful, I look forward to your list (I love useful lists!).

I have been in IT support in some fashion or another for ten years. I have been a hardcore Windows guy. For me the best product of the year is Mac OS 10.4.9. I had to learn mac support this past year and i would never buy a PC again. My mother has been using computers starting with the old Texas Instruments, through DOS, up to XP. I had her buy a macbook this year for her business. She has never been happier. It is the first time in her life she never has to reboot, uninstall or reinstall anything. It realy does "just work". I spend all day fixing computers. For the fist time i can remember when i come home from work i can turn on my computer (MAC) and NOT HAVE TO FIX ANYTHING.The fact that it is visualy gorgeous and intuitive dosen't hurt either. Visa is still a big step behind OS X .4 Tiger (which has been out for how long now?) and X.5 leopard is on its way. I know alot of reades will want to crucify me for this post. I understand. I used to be a mac hater myself. One thing i have to point out: I have never seen a mac user forced to use a pc and say 'wow, what have i been missing all these years, i'm converted, no more macs for me". I have seen MANY a pc guy, myself included, make the switch. That should say something.

I would like to nominate Dryfork 3D Presentation Software. The first company to ever give a good alternative to PowerPoint. A true 3D presentation environment that anyone can use, not just the pros. It is a new software but definately derserve a good look. It is easy to use as well. Great new technology.

Hi,I would briefly like to share this with you...For years I've tried literally hundreds of information managers. And somehow I've always felt disappointed. I just couldn't seem to be satisfied with them. But finally, I've found one - the best one...! GemX do-Organizer. Now I can CONSOLIDATE all my valuable information in one place with quick and easy retrieval. Afterall, how can you be organized when all your information is scattered amongst so many applications on your computer? It doesn't seem to be logical...The ground rule for being organized is consolidation. That's the concept that validates an application's strength and usefulness. The standalone theory scatters your information everywhere. And those power APPS are so "developed" with endless options and capabilities that are hardly ever used. The real truth about standalone power apps is that most people use less than 10% of the app's resources. You're paying for resources you don't use. And so, what's the point to all of that?In the huge company where I work, ofcourse, Microsoft apps dominate the scene. But everybody I know there utilizes so "little" of what these apps can do. They tend to use just what's necessary to "get by" for the day!I'd rather have an application that ORGANIZES my information with less "power capabilities" but rather a more general all-around capability for handling and managing information. Afterall, that's what an organizer is for. And the FOCUS is to organize information - not power app it.The well-designed concept in do-Organizer allows you to LINK record-to-record throughout all the sections. This highlights quick and easy ACCESS to your information. There couldn't be a better way to manage data! The RESOURCES section provides some very useful approaches in management. Lots of data can be "hidden" and uniquely presented on the home page where "keypoints" of organized data are shown. These keypoints range across the entire database structure. All-in-all, efficient data management stimulates motivation, and motivation leads to success...With do-Organizer, the mission is accomplished...The software is good and the service is excellant.I've finally found it...! :D:D:DMe and my do-O > we're unseparable!

Top product of the year: Parallels Desktop for MacThe ability to run Windows, Linux, or just about any other operating system, from within Mac OS X has to be one of the greatest things to happen in the past year.I'm now able to test web based applications cross platform, all on one computer, without rebooting/multi-booting. It's web development heaven!

I have a few that I like:Gmail- Easy to use, and integrates chat, plus 2GB of storage, good for someone like me who never deletes email, except spam (which it filters really well).Google Talk- Also easy to use, it works incredibly well for me.Ubuntu Linux- Fast, easy to use, and PREDICTABLE RELEASE CYCLES! Can Microsoft say that?Firefox 2.0.0.3- The best browser just got better. Session saving and built-in spell checker make it better than ever.VLC Media Player- This little media player is fast and can play just about everything- including DVD's, for FREE!Google Toolbar- Bookmarks, spell checker, AutoFill, and a translator make this a piece of software that I use on a daily basis, and can't function without it.Craigslist- I look to this site for things I need or at least think I need, and found some pretty cool stuff in the free section.Nintendo DS Lite- Fun and ground-breaking gaming device that I can't put down.Palm Treo- I personally don't own one, but I've used one and know people who have them and they all can't live without one.HP OfficeJet 7410- This is the best, most dependable printer I've ever owned, and has two paper trays, a duplexer for automatic double-sided printing, and built-in wireless networking make it convenient, too.Google Desktop- Faster and better than Vista's built-in search hands down.Crap Cleaner (CCleaner)- Gets rid of all that Windows crap that builds up, and even has a registry cleaner.Wikipedia- Best online encyclopedia with accuracy that matches Brittanica.Webroot Window Washer- Like CCleaner, only more powerful with more optionsWebroot SpySweeper- Fast, strong, and powerful, its saved me many times.Targus ChillMat- This thing keeps my notebook cool, since Toshiba didn't think about heat dissipation when designing my notebook.Windows Live OneCare- Controversial, for obvious reasons. Even though the antivirus didn't get good marks, it has a pretty good firewall, backup, and has a nice tune-up feature, which defragments my hard drives, scans for malware, checks if I need to back up my files, and cleans some of the crap off my computer. I'm not too concerned about the crappy antivirus, since I learned the hard way that at least two should be running on your computer.I'm done my monologue- for now
