I have a hardware nominee and a software nominee:Slingbox is the greatest! I travel for work, and it was always disappointing to get to a hotel only to find out they did not carry my favorite channel. Now with Slingbox, it doesn't matter, I can just watch my own TV channels from my home TV on my computer. I can also watch anything I have recorded on my DVR or even set up the DVR to record something new.Virtual Drive is a great piece of software. It allows you to create 1 or multiple "virtual CD drives" to play CDs or DVD's you have saved to your hard drive using their software. The software converts your CD to a "virtual CD" and when you want to access it, you open the program, Insert the CD file into the virtual drive and watch or listen to it just as if you had loaded the CD or DVD into a physical drive. I no longer have to carry any CD's or DVD's with me when I travel.

There's a couple products I would like to nominate:First...The Apple iPhone...even though it has yet to be released, it will change the entire industry. Second...The Apple TV.....not that there isn't other products that provide the same service, but the Apple TV does it with ease and qualityThird,,,Firefox....both PC and Mac versions. 'nuff saidFourth...Gmail...simple and FREE! What more of a reason does one need?Lastly, the iPod Shuffle....again, not revolutionary but simple and cool. I've seen these little buggers everywhere!

My suggestion for the product of the year is the Dell Precision 690. This computer is the reigning king of workstations. It has more power and is more configurable than any system out their for a reasonable price. It's only competition is the IBM IntelliStation series workstation which is more expensive. Mac is making strides with the MacPro but it is still too limited and does not justify the price, it is not comparable with the precision though some have tried. Raid 0, 1, 5 and 10 out of the box, support for 10,000 rpm HDDs and SAS drives. Better graphics support across the board and faster RAM. All in all, it is just a better system for computationally intensive work such as 3D modeling and image analysis.

My nomination is for the TiVo Series 3 HD. I know, you can almost make a PC do the same thing, if you add this, and download that, and your network doesn't die or slow down, and and and. But the TiVo does exactly what it was designed to do, in HD or SD and it does it very well. There are also a ton of hacks available for it if you want to make it personalized just for you.

I know I'm not the first, and I'm not gonna be the last. But the Nintendo Wii should get in the top 100 just for it's pure daringness and innovation. And I'm not talking about the Motion-Sensing controller. At least not directly. What I'm talking about is the 180 degree turn-around and the goal of simplifying the control interface and inviting in a whole new genre of gamers. Motion Sensing tech has been around for a while. They even had it for the GBA. It's not new. What's new is replacing a lot of the button mashing controls with it, to make things simpler. And a heck of a lot more fun.

I would like to nominate the web site www.ProProfs.com. This is an awesome, free, and legit web site for IT professionals that are pursuing their Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA certifications. The resources and community support are the best I have experienced on the Net in this area of interest. I am not affiliated with the site, just a user and fan of it.

The dark horse killer product is the Microsoft Zune. For the same price as an iPod, it has a bigger screen, Wi-Fi, supports multiple formats, wallpaper/customization, firmware upgradability, and nice integration with the Live ecosystem (Points, etc.). Feature per price, the Zune wins.
