well.. and it is here that the most companies and media are mistaken! A locked bootloader doesn't prevent developers and users from loading custom roms on their devices - it just makes it a lot more difficult! :)

I wish that was true. Yes with a locked bootloader customizability is still their but loading an entire new operating system (Such as Cyanogen or MIUI) is basically impossible. Look at the Droid X forums, they have been attempting to do it for almost 2 years now without any advancements. Unlocking the bootloaders is key to developers and rooters.

Also, at the end you stated that the Thunderbolt has a locked bootloader, which is untrue. The thunderbolt has a SIGNED bootloader which for one has been bypassed since before its release and two is not even close to a LOCKED bootloader.
