To me this is a smart move, it kinda forces people to use a more secure product if they wanna use the service. I think all companies and sites should go that way.

Bull feathers.

Take note that no version of Chrome is on the hit list.

That "the announcement emphasizes the importance of the security and compatibility fixes offered in newer browsers" is immaterial to the fact that it brings no benefit to anyone other than Google.
While each is entitled to his own opinion, no one is entitled to his own facts.
