Facebook is useless anyway. I can't wait till it goes the way of Myspace.

How is it useless. It is a great way to stay in touch with others.

People may someday realize the value of privacy.

Stay in touch? Yes.......But you have to admit 99% of the things people post on there are crap. Its people bragging or boasting about one thing or another. To me its a big excuse for people to say "look at me, look at me!" But thats just my opinion.

I have never had a Facebook or MySpace accounts and I never will. I have certainly survived the digital era without those two useless sites, hence I don't need them. Any service who gambles with my privacy deserves neither my participation not my information. My wife fell in the Granja(farm)game. (that's what she called it) - Proper filtering rules in my SonicWall have ever since prohibited access to time-wasting websites from our LAN… There goes the farm! Use a computer to learn, study and/or work or drive to Starbucks to waste your time on Facebook. My kid prefers to socialize with neighbors and real people in general. He finds no values on these websites - he says he knows better.

Ive had a Facebook since I was 9 years old and it stayed pretty much unused until Myspace died but the point is, dont they realize people will lie about their age? Most of my friends started around 9 too. The same with Myspace and I have began to live Facebook for Twitter. I dont think Facebook Inc. realizes the facts.

Facebook numbers are highly suspect to start with. My girlfriend has two accounts. One with her true name that she interacts with co-workers and people from her church ect. She also has one with a different last name that all of her non goody goody friends have accesses to. I can't stand Facebook yet I have two accounts, neither of which I made myself and I have never visited. These were made by my girlfriend so she could add me as a friend to get her count up a little higher. I know half a dozen people who do this kind of silly crap.

People today are far to needy for attention.

Interesting! I have a personal account, a business account (which I never use), and accounts for my cats. You might be on to something...

After doing a quick Google search for some recent statistics I found that the average number of people in the USA accessing the internet is around 230 million people plus or minus 10 million depending on were the info was coming from. Facebook is disputing the drop in users which would put their own estimates of active unique users at close to 160 million Americans. That breaks down to a 69.56% active user rate. I find it hard to believe that nearly 70% of all Americans using the internet no matter how little are also active Facebook users.

I had Facebook account in 2004 which is before most on here who are obsessed with Facebook had theirs.

I have never been a big Facebook fan, I got Facebook solely for games and to log into other websites.

Most use sites like Facebook and MySpace because their desperate and hunt for things on those sites they can't get in real life like friends and relationships.

The funniest things about these social networks are those with no real life act like the amount of virtual friends you have on these sites determines your popularity in real life. Doesn't matter if they don't know 99% of these people in person or have even talked to them online. And the reason is, is because they have no friends in real life and to them this justifies it.

It's like those who are strong on games seem to think how strong they are on a game applies to how strong they are in real life because their weak in real life.

Now I'm not saying everyone who uses these places are desperate but those obsessed with it are. Because if you know the person, you can IM them, Text them, email them, call them or better yet talk to them face to face.

And I like how the supposed haters come out after hearing a site is losing popularity because most of them were obsessed with the sites before hearing the news.

I have always preferred Twitter and you can check through all my posts, I never have supported Facebook and I've always preferred Twitter. I've had a Twitter account since like 2005.

So yeah if you see people obsessed with a place like Facebook it's because they have no friends or relationships in real life.

Judging from the way Facebook deceives its users about privacy settings, I'm certain they are blatantly lying about their subscription numbers. For example, notice they don't say "active" members. My guess is that at least 25% of their "members" are orphaned accounts that have never been deleted.
90% of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.
