My wife and I are planning to bring over other couples and families to watch MLB games together for rest of the season. We are thinking about changing our old TV to a 3D TV in our living room so that all of us can watch the games on ESPN 3D together. Can you guys recommend me the best LED 3D TV to watch ? No plasma please, personally I think they are old-fashioned.

First, read some of the 3D TV rieviews and pick 5 TVs you want the most out there. After that, consider if the TVs are good for many people to watch together; which means, it needs to have a wide viewing angle so all of you can sit comfortably around the TV and move freely. Next, find out how much their glassses cost on average and how many of them are included with purchase. Don't forget to consider spares too becuase glasses can break easily when used by random people. One thing I want to let you know is that active type models require their 3D glasses to be charged before use. So If its a group that will use the glasses, I recommend you the passive 3D TV. They don't need to be charged and theyre more convenient to store. Cinemas use passive 3D technology for a reason.

If you want to invite other people to watch 3D TV in your home, look for sets that use passive (polarized) 3D. Active #D glasses usually cost about $150 a pair (and only work with one brand of television). That's a lot for a party.

Thanks guys. You helped me pick out my 3D TV and I am very very pleased. The model I chose was LGs LW6500, the 65" and boy it is huge. I checked it out at Bestbuy for about 5 minutes before I purchased but when I got home, I did several tests for about 30 minutes.
First, I checked the smart TV features. It works great. The remote is actually kind of like a video game. It works like a mouse except you use your wrist more than your arm. Fun stuff.
Secondly, I checked the 2D to 3D converter. I tuned into the discovery channel and popped it into 3D rendering mode and it was fantastic. The bestbuy employee told me that the resolution wasnt as good as the samsung model they had there but to tell you the truth, I'm either blind or there really is no difference.
Next, I checked the reason why I bought this TV set. I tuned into ESPN 3D and checked out all the seating spots I would assume would be taken when I have guests over (there is actually a little too much "angle" in my house). It would look kinda awkward watching from the kitchen, even though its definitely possible. I just watched UFC on my TV last night, pay per view and it blew my mind.
The TV came with four glasses but I got another four for $11.99 each, and they are very very comfy. Not bad at all. Thanks PCWORLD, I owe you guys big time!
