Well, if these guys play their cards right, it could be months or even years before they get caught.

Depends entirely on how smart they are -breaking into government websites doesn't automatically suggest intelligence in the area of, say, dodging government officials-, and how many feathers they ruffle. Get too many people mad and they'll set up road blocks.

If they're doing it right, though, it's entirely possible we don't even know where they are.

Someone needs to find them and bash their head in with a bat or break their arms so bad they can never use them again. They aren't doing anyone a favor, but merely crying for attention. Their actions will just result in governments stepping in soon and taking away more freedom.

Governments can only take freedoms away when people allow them to - one day the Americans will wake up and fight to get all their freedoms back

This kind of stuff will NOT be tolerated. ( TROLLING ) I have edited this to make it less offensive. Your warning level had been adjusted accordingly and any further brecches of forum etiquette will be lead to further action. coastie

Endless army of hackers, the seduction is eternal. Each group inspires the nest. It is pointless to imagine otherwise.

I consider the probabilitiies that these people will be caught and punished, and that the world will end Dec. 21, 2012 about the same. Of course there is the possibility of a new world starting immediately thereafter. If so, I am sure a reasonable facsimile of a hacker group arise also. To death and taxes, we must now add hackers.

Actually their actions will do nothing of the sort - if anything the only Government action here should be putting them on Government payroll.

What LulzSec is doing is good, better then good, Fantastic.

The reason why PSN went down like a stack of cards was because they had terrible security, and they did this because of "costs" meaning they gambled with people's information in exchange for a cheaper set-up.

If Sony is doing it, I guarantee other companies are doing it too. And you know what? Those companies DESERVE to be hacked, in fact, they MUST be hacked NOW by Lulzsec before an actual malicious hacker attacks them with their pants down and does real damage.

If LulzSec is Caught then these money grubbing companies are going to continue to gamble with my personal information of which I have trusted them, and you know what? No one will stop them, Not the Government, Not the Authorities, Not a Damn Soul because it's legal to leave that stuff out in the open - there is no law on security for personal data. Since there is no Law then we need to rely on Lulzsec to find these companies out, point them out to the internet, and say "HEY YOUR SECURITY SUCKS LOOK HOW EASY WE HACKED YOU!" and FORCE them to beef up their security.

If LulzSec hits every important data center in the US it will do nothing but help the countries interests... then we won't get issues like China hacking Google and no one knowing how it happened.

That's a red herring.

This has nothing to do with any government, but rather a group of puerile asocial individuals who take delight in breaking and entering.

So, non-violent crimes should be legalized; or, at least condoned or overlooked?
