Zoink, I lassoed pictures on my sd card and accidently deleted 3 I need.
They are the results of someone kindly breaking my sons driver window and taking his radio.

Can someone recommend a program ( hopefully free ) that they know is proven to work and not contain spyware?

I've found choices but don't want to go through a download/uninstall process to get a keeper.

Here are some I found. Anyone ever use these or another?

Thank you!

@Rommel

Whenever I Want Free Shopping I Go To This Page:

http://download.cnet...ldl4+asc&rpp=30

I Selected: WINDOWS, RECOVER, 30 Per Page, Free, Most Downloads Ever.

If You Have The Time, Explore It.

Good Luck.

Thank you for the reply.

However after two attempts I am going to continue to wait and see if someone replies with a specific app.

The first one I downloaded couldn't find anything on the SD card though it stated it could.
Found a boatload on my HDD that I don't need.

The second found the pictures but said the free version only allows 25KBs. Really?? 25 KBs.

So these will be uninstalled.
The pics arn't life or death but I wish I hadn't deleted them by accident.

Try Recuva. I know it's good (from the same folks that made CCleaner).

Hi Brian,

I tried it and it is super easy to use. Works quick enough.
It recovered quite a few pics off the card but only 1 and 1/2 of an another of what I was hoping to get.

Thanks for the tip.

Well, if it was overwritten by something, there's nothing that can be done.

As soon as I clicked ok to delete I said, ****, knew immediately I goofed.

I removed the card and haven't used it all, even to this time.

Its alright, it would be nice to have them but its not the end of the world.

Odd - you didn't do anything after removing it but Recuva can't recuva it? Oh well.

I'll admit, I've done that. Once I emptied my junk folder, then as it was reloading the page realized "oh crap, the gigabyte RMA email that I need was in there!" - I had to contact hotmail support to have it restored.

I don't plan to uninstall your recommendation.

At least that one did help without a catch.
Currently I'm still using a different SD though its only 512mbs.

But I'll need the 2gig for my next Phillies game next Sunday.
If it was life or death I would had spent money to recover at this point.

This was actually my first attempt to recover this way so it was cool to see it work.
It did find a lot off the card.
The only prior recovery I've done was connecting a main drive as a slave to recover stuff.

You might try Zero Assumption (ZAR 9), which is also very good. The paid version is not required for recovering images from flash media.

There is a simpler version but it's also slower, though slower may be a good thing.

Recuva was mentioned, but Filehippo to an older version of DiskDigger. I've been able to recover 80% of a windows profile using DD on a newly-installed windows XP computer that had been formatted/re-installed.

Or if worst comes to worst, get a trial of some data forensics software, that'll do it!

I tried ZAR 9 and it found tons off the SD card in fact it found the same amount as diskdigger but DD gave a preview of the recovered photo and has a better interface IMO.

Both failed to get the other pictures all previous apps failed to get but these two recovered pictures from previous deletes to clear the card.

Thanks guys for posts.

here is a good free program that is supposed to recover photo/video/audio files even from corrupt/damaged memory cards.

"art plus digital photo recovery" available from CNET.com or a link on mfg page www.artplus.hr (there is also a paid version).

the exe file does not need to be installed, it does not write to the card being recovered (won´t overwrite what you are trying to recover), and provides two processing modes (A. direct recovery <to hdd>, B. build binary image file & process later (for high capacity cards) e.g. do the processing later on a more powerful machine or when you have more time).

**UPDATE** newer version of this program, now called just 'photo rec' (6.13) plus 'testdisk' available at www.cgsecurity.com. it is still a 'portable' (e.g. unzip and use, no installation)program and is available in 32 and 64 bit versions.
