For Oulook, Outlook Express, Hotmail and other email program users, I have a much easier way. Download a program called ePrompter (it's free!). Not only does it inform you when you have mail, but it also allows you to see an email in it's most basic form (no attachments, no pics, no nothing but words). That way you can delete any offending email BEFORE it gets to your inbox. Been using it for years with no problems whatsoever.

What about free http://trashmail.net/ "Create a free disposable email address! It's really easy to use:Create a new email address on trashmail.net. All mails to this address will be forwarded to your real email address for a number of times you can set up on the following form. When the limit is reached, the Trashmail.net email address will be automatically deleted. All following mails (like spam, newsletter, etc) will be rejected at Trashmail.net. ".Hawaiipawn

Great idea! It's actually similar to something I've been doing for over a decade using a real domain with a catchall, but a lot less expensive than owning your own domain! However, I will disagree with your objection to the Gmail process vs. the Yahoo or Nym process. Which is more inconvenient: having to specifically log on to Yahoo/Nym and create a specific address every time you need one, or instantly creating addresses and adding a filter when an address becomes an annoyance?I agree: you should NEVER give any site your real email address! If you're using the Gmail version, you can INSTANTLY create an address which can be killed, if necessary, with a few minutes work. And, it is especially fun when you get a phone call, and they want an email address. The reaction to "my email address is YourCompany@MyEmail.ext" is absolutely priceless!GREAT story! Fabulous advice! Phishing attacks are quickly seen: why would PayPal be sending an email to your Sears email address??? GOTCH YA!

Their is also a site called spamavert.com, it is ver simple to use, no signing up just create your email by typing whatever in the inputbox. You can check messages by adding the RSS Feed to your bookmarks if you have Firefox and check them that way, the email account has an expiration date but you can always reuse it..Best of al its free. So if you where to even access the web site anonymously and then creat the account you would be clear and free

One I love and is not as well known, is soodonims at www.soodonims.com
It has a quick registration asking only the bare requirements, like the address you want to protect, and what you want your name and domain to be. Optionally it will send you a test email via a disposable as part of registration,as a test/training. Thats a cool feature.
Then you dont have to go back ever. Just use the emails, and make them up on the spot when you need one.
Well actually you would go back to inactivate a bad disposable. You may also want to go back because its fun to see WHO the culprits are.Soodonims.com shows you the domains that send the mail.
Its quite powerful and easy to use.
