I'm hoping that this post can save even at least one other person from getting taken in by the following dishonest sites, and also that hopefully PC World can look into this fraudulent-rife business:

http://computechnologiesinc.com
http://computerpartsnmore.com

These sites are operated by a company called CompuTechnologies, PO Box 472, Denville, NJ 07834, and I would like to share with everyone an outrageous experience with them and, again, this will hopefully get PC World On Your Side involved.

On March 14, 2011, I placed an order on their site. Following the placement of the order, a very strange email was received showing no return address and no contact information, and containing FIVE PAGES of pseudo-legal mumbo-jumbo. Within that text, a promise was made for another followup email within 5 business days with further details.

That email never came.

Finding no contact information in the email and then going back and finding no contact information on the site itself, an inquiry was made with the credit card used. The inquiry resulted in no response from the merchant, CompuTechnologies.

About a month later, a letter was received from CompuTechnologies. This letter was the most bizarre thing imaginable. For starters, it was dated 3 months prior to the sale date. But, that was only the beginning. What followed in the letter was two pages chock full of lies, along with a $60 “penalty” for disputing the charge, along with a blatant threat to send it to a collection agency and report it to the major credit agencies.

I sent them a reply with a vehement response, clearly illuminating their deceptive practices and lies.

To save anyone possible hassles, and because there is nothing to hide, I have uploaded the entire documentation to this PDF file, and it can also be seen at http://arking.com/computechnologies or at http://www.indisputa...putechnologies.

Doing a google search for that company will also show that this company has scammed several other people out there. Among them are complaints that I put up:
http://www.complaint...om-c463465.html
http://www.scaminfor...com-c31214.html

I urge you to please read this PDF, which shows how bizarre this business's practices are.

Hi. It does sound like a scam. I wasn't impressed with the site and it looked like it was mostly geared towards Dell replacement parts. Looks like A.E. covered you though which should be helpful.

You might want to leave a negative comment on mywot.com to help discourage others from going there. I didn't see any info there (it had a gray icon, which means no one rated it).

These jokers are now doing business as http://www.dellpartsnmore.com. Same address, same m/o, same BS with no contact page and pages of threats. If you do a search on Ripoff Report for Compu Technologies, the business owner's rebuttals are offensive, but comedy gold. Run...RUN away from this company!

I can spot thats fake just looking at the site pages, it does not even resolve to the correct resolution in the browser, way out of frame asking me to move a slider. Source code shows "IE=EmulateIE8" the second page saying UK branch resolves to a much better frame rate, but still looking at the graphics along the side you can see it's the work of an rank amateur.

The site Whois details are protected by a Privacy-Protect based in Australia as is the site of http://computerpartsnmore.com/

However the original site @ http://computechnologiesinc.com/ has the whois lookup details for 144 N Beverwyck Rd, Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, 07034, USA Tel. +01.3202154031 Maybe they learned the hard way to hide their whois details after the first few people they scammed sent legal litigation through there mailbox!

That address is fake that address goes to The UPS Store 144 N Beverwyck Rd Lake Hiawatha, NJ 07034.

However the telephone number does not match and it is listed as a Business Park. However (320) 215-4031 is a Landline
Minnesota (Rush City) Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, Chisago County.

Area Code: 320 City/State: Rush City, MN Zip (primary): 55069 County: Chisago

An for the piece Du-resistance how about a name to go with that phone number?

RILEY Anthony.

Ah sweet here is a picture of him and his mom! https://secure.flick...in/photostream/

I found his phone number next to his name in a high-school white-pages from some place where the dumb nuts actually used his own phone number next to his name... Town Librarian eh! not exciting enough for you, had to engage in a little cyberspace fraud on the side eh anthony, tsk, tsk.. I expected a librarian to have more smarts.

Some times I even scare myself with my mad cyberspace skills!

Here's the official web-site of CompuTechnologies http://computechnologies.com.ph/

The contact us button works, but heres where it gets interesting, merchant circle has the USA address of

Computechnologies, 6125 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY. Tel: 502-231-2511 <-- Undoubtedly another fake!

So lets see if we've got this straight they drive all the way from Louisville, Kentucky to ship items via The UPS Store Located in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey. The official CompuTech site says no actually we're located in Pasig City in the Philippines.

But Anthony Rileys mylife.com web-page says "hey I've lived in the following places: Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago." and we can deduce that in 2006 he was busy posting pics on flickr of himself in Minneapolis being a Librarian getting hugs off his mom! KY, MN, Iowa, my god thats hill-billy dumb hicks and redneck country, why would anyone buy from a shop that can not even provide you with the genuine address, let alone a genuine contact.

The Genuine CompuTechnologies has been in business since 1993 && DellPartsNmore was founded in early 2010.

So ero we can deduce someone somewhere is talking a load of doo-doo, my moneys on the librarian with his seedy little eyes!

Unfortunately, I was rushed when I was trying to order some repair parts and made a quick decision to order from ComputerPartsNMore.com. Afterwards, I found out that there was no address, no phone, all the legal notifications of the terms I agreed to during checkout. Since I did "agree" to the terms, is there anything I can do?

Hi. If yopu paid for it by Credit Card, call the issuing company and stop the charge, Explain that you found out the company was a scam AFTER you ordered from them. There shouldn't be a problem with doing that.

My credit card company will be no problem. They'll refund the money. The seller can still put the "bill" through to a collection agency. What recourse do I have at that point? What can the credit card company do about that? The "terms" of the sale specified that if a credit card dispute was filed, there would be $155+ of additional charges applied to the original purchase if not paid, would go to collection. Am I stuck?

Here's the statement from the seller:

Quote

CHARGEBACK/COLLECTIONS: Any buyer who initiates a chargeback/credit card dispute will be sent to a collection agency and be reported to the credit bureaus to recover the fees charged by the merchant processing companies. Any chargeback which are found to be fraudulent in nature will also be reported to the appropriate authorities for mail order fraud. Any buyer filing a chargeback/credit card dispute will be assessed an eighty-five chargeback/credit card dispute fee. If payment for these fees are not paid in full by the stated due date, the buyer will be sent to a collection agency, where an additional seventy dollar collections fee will be added. If after this second attempt to recover funds has not been successful, the collection agency will be instructed to report the debt to all of major credit reporting agency. Once reported, it will remain on the buyer’s credit report e permanently for a period of seven to thirteen years. As stated above, if the chargeback/dispute is found to be of a fraudulent nature, legal action will be immediately taken.

I would like to inform you that www.computechnologies.com.ph is different from the scam site www.computechnologiesinc.com which you are referring to. www.computechnologies.com.ph is a website owned by Computechnologies Corporation which is a legal company operating here in the Philippines.

I believe that you are a tech-savvy person and as such you should be responsible enough to know that not all domains that has similarities are owned are owned by only once entity. You could own domain.com but it does not necessarily mean that you also own domain.net!

Hello,
I do not know where you got the details that you have posted here but I would like to correct you
on the wrong information that you have posted here.

www.computechnologies.com.ph is a website owned by Computechnologies Corporation which is a legal entity and is operating here in the Philippines. This is different from the scam website that you are referring to. Note that when you own "domain.net", you does not necessarily own "domain.com". In this case, it seems the problem is that you are speaking of a scam site that has a domain similar to www.computechnologies.com.ph but you are referring to the latter as the same site that does the scam which should not be the case.

www.computechnologies.com.ph was registered to the domain registrar while I was working with a web hosting company whose address is in Pasig City. This company still hosts the domain up to the present.

Prior to working in this company, I worked from another company that has a web address www.gspan.net (now closed) but I never managed the its hosting services.

Also, I would like to inform you that I NEVER REGISTERED or OWNED or managed the domain www.sell123.org.

I registered to this forum today just to correct the information that I have read.

What really blows me away about this company is that the recent incarnation (DellPartsNMore.com) doesn't even have a postal address, an email address or a phone number listed on their site. Absolutely no way whatsoever to contact them, even though their dispute resolution process says you have to contact them first (HOW?).

You don't even know if they're based in the U.S. for that matter.

What a sad joke.

These people remind me of someone too stupid to know how to properly con anyone, though. They seem to have developed a scam on how to make money based on (and in a way to make up for) their propensity for being a bunch of paranoid cheapskates. (I'm guessing they're probably selling untested junk parts they scavenged from old, dead machines as brand new because they don't say what the condition of anything is, and the parts don't appear to be in boxes from the pictures they used - at least the ones I saw.)

Anyway, there is absolutely no way they can win anything on chargebacks or collections, as they have no way to prove YOU purchased anything from them, and if it's a legitimate consumer dispute (refusing to refund a damaged item or an item not as advertised) you would be able to sue them for abusing the collection process.
Their entire strategy seems to be to try and bully you into paying them.

These people are the dumbest of amateurs. They need to find something else to do and try making an honest living. Internet sales is just not their game.

Geez, what a mess. After reading all of that, it was obviously a scam. I ordered a Motherboard for a laptop Friday morning from a place I was not sure of, altho0ugh I had seen it often enough when running searches: www.sparepartswarehouse.com As I said, I ordered it Friday, with no special shipping and it was delivered Monday morning. With a name like the one above, I would have been looking at other alternatives as that didn't sit well when I saw it. Fortunately if you use a Credit card, you are pretty much covered and they will go after the company.

Good Job!!!! You obviously have more time to get into that stuff than I do. I gave up chasing spammers as it is an exercise in futiliy most of the time. I still go after the ones selling Credit Numbers and such and more often than not hit pay dirt, although more and more seem to be getting behind proxys and making things a tad more difficult and time consuming.

Just the other day, I got a spam message on youtube and responded to the guy with a message mocking his. :D I love doing that... (with email though, I spoof the sender info when doing it)
