As a 10? year magazine subscriber and ?how many? year site user; I can't begin to say HOW TERRIBLE your new (NEW? 1 yr at least?!) site is for searching for information and product comparisons. While I will still subscribe to PC World (for now) it has fallen to the ranks of generalities, just like PC MAG and PC Shopper. Your interest is only in profit and not ranking or truly evaluating a product's usefullness versus past and/or future use. Worse, your site has become impossible to search for specfic software, upgrades or hardware help!! Note, this comment comes NOT JUST FROM ME - a 50 year old plus (I have bought and upgraded 4 PC's) , but also from my son - a high 20 year old!You need to revamp your site BADLY to make searching and relevance FAR MORE "Relevant" to the request and allow users to use their own judgement. Your old review system was FAR SUPERIOR to the TOP 5 or TOP 10 you use now. We, as consumers used to be able to take your evaluations and take our needs into account for judging how a product fit our needs. Now, for several years, you try to tell us only your 10 best are worth looking at and we have no option regarding how other technological applicatiions are implemented.Thank you for your 'God Hood' and lack of trust in our going beyond the top 10 to our top 30 affordable and workable options!PS: My 2nd and 3rd computers were based on your late 1990's and early 2000's evaluation systems. My latest was based on my own research, as I felt you were not providing a wide enough evaluation system, but basing your info on 'provided' systems, hi-end systems and 'politically' corredt systems to evaluate, rather than what was available on the market - with true reliability and performance evaluations.I'll continue to subscribe, because, I do feel there are some articles that provide usefull information, and that your '10' best offers some basis for making judgements.Sincerely, JM

Hi JM, and thanks for taking the time to tell us what you think of the site and magazine -- both what you like, and what you feel needs improvement.I sent a link to your post to Alan Stafford, who is our Executive Editor for Reviews. I'm sure he'll be along shortly to address your concerns regarding our reviews process. In terms of the site search, we are doing several thing to make the site more search-centric. First, we are in the process of testing a new site header that has a search box much more prominently in the design. We hope that this will encourage people to search for any information that is not readily available on our index pages. Second, we have recently changed how our search results display -- our intent in doing this is to expose more and different types of information that someone may be looking for -- downloads, news stories, reviews, pricing, etc. We don't have any more changes to the search results display planned, but we always welcome feedback on what we could do better. We also feature individual product reviews in our Shopping section (which may be labeled "Shopping", "Compare Prices" or "Shop & Compare", depending on which version of the red header you are served). You can use this section to get information on products or classes of products (such as laptops or digital cameras) and use the filters to further select just the prices, manufacturers, or features you are looking for. I encourage you to use this tool while doing research for your next purchase, and let us know what you think.Again, thanks for subscribing and taking the time to send us your feedback. We truly value the opinions (both positive and negative) of our readers.Kellie

Hi there,I'm an editor in the reviews department; I saw your note and i'm sorry you're not able to use the reviews portion of the site to meet your needs. I'll try to suggest a couple of tips, which i hope will be helpful to you. These are relevant to the Hardware Reviews section of PC World. 1. Have you used the "Find a review" button. It's at the top-right of the screen (below the banner ad). If you click on it, you can search for products that meet certain criteria. In the case of notebooks, for example, you could search by product category, CPU Speed, maximum price, or display size among other things.2. Have you used the "See all" link?In every product category, there's a see all link beneath all the subcategories. This contains reviews new and older product models for those looking to buy on secondary markets.Thank you for your feedback.Best,Narasu Rebbapragadasenior editor, reviews
