Dang... the chances of my thinkpad's multitouch NOT working correctly are as high as the chances of a rock going down by itself if I let go of it in midair... yet the TrackPoint works 99.9% of the time, odd...

Different drivers?

I tried the original ones and the latest ones (as of a month or two ago, when I reinstalled windows)... no difference. Whatever, now I prefer the trackpoint anyway... (it allows my finger to be lazier)

Hey that works too. I am just trying to understand everything this machine can and cannot do... There is a lot more to this machine than I expected.

Did you know it has a tilt sensor? I found that out playing with the airbag controls. Cannot use it for anything else, but it will show you the exact angle your machine is sitting at.

What utility did you use to determine the angle?

Only the hard drive airbag utility would show me.

It recently dawned on me that I have 2 display output ports on this laptop.

Why not try some 3 display gaming?! RIGHT? I mean, I know the poor little 1000m is going to hurt, but still, sounds like FUN!

Well, the results are in, and they are mixed.

On the one hand, Windows 7 had no trouble at all stretching the display across the Acer X233H, Samsung 2343BWX, and of course the internal display. It had no trouble re-arranging them either. The desktop works seamlessly across them.

So, why the mixed results?

Good lord there are many topics to go over here.

First and foremost, Display Port. Yes I still have an adaptor, no I cannot help but hate that dumb thing. It isn't inherently bad, but the results just seem fuzzy. Before anyone comments, YES I KNOW it is converting to VGA, but the Acer is using the NATIVE VGA output from the laptop and is MUCH sharper (DVI Quality best I can tell). Interestingly enough though, the laptop has absolutely no trouble sending 1080P to the acer and 2048x1156 to the Samsung.

Secondly, gaming on 3 displays is a 100% NO-GO. It just does not seem to work. The nvidia control panel shows the laptop display on the Intel IGP, though I have no way to prove this. More testing on this later.

Third, and most important... the displays themselves. Sadly, this is the most depressing. First, the density of the 15" 1080P display shows itself. The other monitors look terible next to it. Even ignoring the DPI, the quality of that display shows. Colors are amazing, absolutely gorgeous. The Acer looks like trash. Even the Samsung is showing its true colors (so to speak)... So there we go, the most depressing part is that the laptop looks so much freaking better. I wish these differences were smaller too... but they aren't these are a striking contrast.

And I thought I was wining about the color difference between my two monitors (the sony is set to 6500K of the presets; the samsung doesn't have any and appears to be 9300K)...

Hey! There are times when things like that are more bothersome than others. Sit a beautiful, color accurate display right next to two ... shall we say, mediocre displays, and you start to question your own judgment. I thought the Samsung had a nice display. When sat next to the Lenovo it just looks... dull.

The lenovo is IPS and the others aren't, right? I'll admit, I wonder sometimes - if I ever play games dualscreen (once I get a new gpu), should I change the sony to 9300K so it matches up with the samsung? There'll be less difference, but I find 9300K in general looks bad and at least with the sony I can minimize it...

I am a bit suprised though that a business machine has such a good display. But then again, I suppose some people might do video editing on such a system...

That is the most interesting part, NO the Lenovo is NOT IPS. It is a HIGH QUALITY TN panel with 95% color gamut. This panel shows variations in color that the others cannot. Lenovo meant for this machine to be great for photographers, though many forums I see complain that the TN panel, though better than most, still isn't up to par.

As someone who has used cheap panels for so many years, this is a beautiful upgrade.

I cannot tell you what to do with those panels you have.. I don't know what kind of effect you will see - realistically.

It is noticable with office stuff on both. A tad hard to adjust, but not too bad. The sony is staying at 6500K for that.
