Hi to all,
I've been noticing my browser, I.E. Explorer 9.0, will fall slow when I'm writing a email or trying to load some pages. I will be typing along and it freezes so I check my processes and all programs are open and running. I'm also getting alot of pop up windows ( only secure content is displayed) and then I have the option to (show all content). This pops up in the btm. of my window with a orange strip across the box. Yesterday I was on chat with Century Link who is my phone, internet and TV bundle Co.. While chatting with the rep., a window opened over the chat box reading (are u sure u want to leave this page? Wait.. Wait. Click cancel or stay on this page now to receive your free IPad2 or press leave pg. to continue. I really had a hard time closing the window. I have Win.7 and have ran Malaware bytes and Microsoft Essentials and nothing is found. Do you know how to check what may be lurking in my computer? Thanks in advance..

Hi. That sounds like an infection of some sort. I'm surprised that malwarebytes has come up clean though and I am assuming you have done a deep scan. Anyway, here is something else to try: http://www.freedrweb.com/?lng=en

Also try Superantispyware. Do that and malwarebytes in safe mode w/ networking.

No luck with the drweb as it didn't find anything either. But I'll keep checking the group. Thanks for your suggestions...

I ran this as you requested and it found adware tracking cookie(s) 18 threats were found. I did have them removed and I do have a copy of the report. Also, I ran uniblue registry booster and it found 118 errors.
I've had Malaware bytes free edition installed for about 6 months but keep it updated. Is it best to remove and reinstall these free downloads such as this? Also, do I want to remove Uniblue booster and superantispyware now that I've used them both? I wonder why this tracking cookie wasn't found before now.
Thanks so much. You all are teriffic at helping dummies like me....

Uniblue is junk. Just about all websites leave tracking cookies. Those are harmless. However, I personally prefer privacy and block them. Malwarebytes and superantispyware will NOT conflict, as the free versions of both are NOT realtime. However, 2 of MOST av programs WILL conflict. For instance, Avast AND Microsoft Security Essentials is a big no no. Also, tried ccleaner? It might not hurt. (the cleaner and registry tabs) Auslogics Disk Defrag isn't a bad thing to run either. (after ccleaner. Do defrag+optimize)
