can this be done without a installation dvd? (my computer came with no win7 dvds)

The short answer is no; however you can just download the original iso file from your fav torrent/usenet website, since you own the product (assuming you have an original product key) actually having a copy of the installer is not necessarily illegal although that may depend on what country you are in.

even better than torrenting you can actually download the iso files from the following site, directly from DigitalRiver/Microsoft

then all you need is your product key
