I noticed something odd about steam. I'm downloading a game off it right now - but why does it say '1,112.4MB total downloaded' when below it says 'Downloaded 4,190.6MB/9,944.8MB'? This makes no sense.

Hey Brian, I don't know. I decided to install Deus Ex : Human Revolution in here as i was playing it on Windows 7. I put he disk in and went through the install. When I though it was done, STEAM say's it is installing it. I have The retail disk, but just like Fallout: New Vegas, it is intiated through STEAM ( a DRM thing? ). I just want to play my games a no interference from a third party. On THE WItcher 2, they removed the DRM on the first patch. and you don't even need a disk in the drive to play it once it is installed. Anyway, all you can do is look at the time left and wait until that has run out.

@coastie,
On one of my recent games (can't remember which) I bought the media but had to activate through Steam. It's a DRM thing but pretty unobtrusive, and after that I had the option to play off-line if I wanted to.

The first time I ran into that was a few years ago when I bought the "Orange Box" with the new Half-Life and Portal games. I was on dial-up, and it took forever for the process to complete (I'm talking overnight!). Love my broadband. :lol:

@LiveB,
I've downloaded a lot of Steam games but never noticed that before. I wouldn't pay too much attention, I doubt those download gauges are very accurate anyway.

Hey Comp. As Isaid, I was playing Deus Ex : Human Revolution in Windows 7 and I wanted to play it, but had moved the Hdd to the new build. I decided to install it in Vista. It didn't go well as I messed up my mouse. Uninstalled it and reinstalled it again. Essentially, STEAM sees it as going on a new computer and reauthorizes it. Still had all my saves, not that it mattered, as I missed a lot of stuff early on. :P

Those are a couple of the many things I like about Steam, the way they save settings and they're not twitchy about authorizing on a new HDD.
