i am scanning my computer with Nortan AntiVirus 2007 right now, but the problem being is that it's really slow, and second it stops scanning items after about 56,000 and won't unfreeze. i took all of my other security programs off thinking Nortan can scan faster and won't stop anymore, but that isn't working. help would be great

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi : By the way, I am ranked by the USCF as an "Expert" . Norton is fairly well known as a "bloatware" producing company ; best to avoid ALL Symantec/Norton and most McAfee products. Many are experiencing problems with NAV 2007; I recommend you COMPLETELY REMOVE it from your computer, which would include the use of their "Norton Removal Tool". Then use a Good & FREE antiVIRUS program, such as Avast Home Edition ( www.avast.com ), which has 7 "Providers/Shields" & EXCELLENT SUPPORT FORUMS. I do not know what "security programs" you took off, but before putting any back on, I recommend you read the info about Good & FREE programs @ http://rcip.com/mitc...dieUpdated.html .

If you decide to stick with Norton for ever reason you bought the product and in any way don't want to send it back because of the amount of money you spent to get the product, make sure you have absolutely NOTHING running in the background when your computer is doing a norton scan. Meaning... kill all programs you have running on your computer normally during bootup so that when you scan your computer with norton, your system won't crawl to its thigh's because you have no system resources to spare. Maybe then it won't lock up. If it continues, send Norton through your food disposal. The frustration is NOT worth it!Good luck my dear friend.
