Wonder if space is a premium on a tablet PC with only 32GB of space originally, that you can install in on the SDHC 32GB card? Or that not bootable on most tablets?

This didn't work for me. I got to the point where you boot up from cd/dvd and it asks you where you want to install it. I tried to select the new partition I had made, but it told me "Windows cannot be installed to this disk" and when i clicked more info it told me "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation." I tried making another partition in case I did something wrong the first time, same result. I made both partitions from my OSinstall C hard drive, which doesn't get the error message, so I have no idea how to get rid of these "dynamic volumes." please help

Lucrade,
i remedied mine this way:
Go back to Disk management

Use "expand volume" on the volume immediately before (that maybe your C:/) the unallocated space.
This will increase the size of an existing partition by the number of GBs you have on the new drive - so you'll get your space back.
You must do this on the partition immediately BEFORE the unallocated space (i.e. to the left of the gap).

Hope it works for you

Now the error message I get is "Setup was unable to use the existing system partition because it does not contain the requisite free space" I originally created a new partition with 60 gigs then tried again with 100 gigs then tried again with 65 gigs. All partitions were formatted between each try. I get the same error message each time. My system is W7 64bit.

This is just a 'shot in the dark' as I don't have all of the requisite details per your post, but is it possible that you inadvertently downloaded and therefore are trying to install the 32bit version of the Windows 8 Developer Preview (on what is presumably) your 64bit (hardware) computer?

I had the same problem as lucarade as well. I even gave it 100 GB.

Does anyone understand that? Please explain what he said. It makes no sense to me (because of the improper grammar)

For all of you with the "dynamic volume issue" there is one thing that you should check on the disk management screen. on the screen check to see if your c:\ drive or whatever drive you are shrinking if the color gold at the top. If it is not blue at the top then it has been configured as a dynamic disk array. If this is true then there is some work to do. Windows tried to make reverting back to basic disks impossible but i found this one post that should help http://strangelyperf...k-in-windows-7/

All you guys with the "unable to install on the partition" problem, You can create the volume initislly if you like, but when installing from the dvd, use the windows 8 disk manager. delete the existing partition you created, if you created it already, and re-create it. windows 8 preview should then install fine.

Worked for me. I created a 23 Gb drive out of my 350 Gb data drive and installed windows 8 as explained above.
But I cannot open my Windows 7 now. Recovery Manager opens and asks me to restore the PC to a previous date. I'm confused. Should I run recovery? Will that affect Windows 8. Will I lose data? Need help.
