The new Facebook is horrible and confusing. Get rid of it, we were perfectly happy with the old page.

Learn to live without Facebook, you are much better off. Since when has "instant contact" become a requirement for living? No Facebook? No problem.

I am a Facebook user who likes the IDEA of Facebook but has never been thrilled with the Facebook experience, yet like so many others have resigned to using it for lack of a viable alternative. Over the last two days, as I read through all my FB friends' complaints about the new changes, I decided to try to instigate a mass simultaneous temporary migration from Facebook to Google+. I'm calling it TOGGLE ("The October Google+ Group Launch Experiment").

Are you on Facebook's payroll or just a naive child who never thinks about the outcome of your actions.

You are calling people nimrods who; I expect, are much more qualified to offer their thoughts and opinions. I say this based upon your grammar usage.

Too old. Let me tell you the difference between old and young.
Old means you have experience which has transcended into knowledge; wisdom.
Young means you are more prone to naivete. Case in point: Your comments here showing unfettered support for changes that can and may very well have serious impacts upon a person's online privacy.

You see, there is more to this debate than Facebook is making some interface changes which may require a small learning curve. It runs much deeper. If you were to take the time to get off your grandstand for a moment and think; really use your mind for something other than keeping your skull from imploding, you may come up with some of the same thoughts, which many others have already voiced.
always be just.

Personally, I am becoming less and less attracted to Facebook. So much of what I see for FB postings span the range of, "I have a doctor appointment today." to, "My date last night was so good. He/She did this and that." (And much, much worse.) I don't care for posts about every little nuance of a person's life. I want to see something with a little more merit. Posts with intelligence, or conviction, or belief; or...

I find more of the posts I like and care for on Google+. I have already sent invitations to all my FB contacts and will continue trying to sway them.

This makes no sense whatsoever!

It's the people you are friends with with that post "every little nuance" of their lives, not Facebook. If you bring them all with you to G+ as you say you are attempting to do, you will experience the EXACT same thing on a different website. The idea that one can find posts with more "intelligence, or conviction, or belief" by switching from Facebook to Google+ is more than absurd; what you need is friends with more intelligence, conviction or belief.

Keep in mind that these changes are not for users -- they are to improve Facebook's profitability because advertisers are unhappy with FB's current return on their investment.

What?! You didn't really believe that Zuckerberg created Facebook to bring people together, did you? He doesn't care one whit about what you want -- which is why all of these changes are here to stay!

There is a private alternative to Facebook: UmeNow.com -- it is an ethical social network supported strictly by member subscriptions. No ads. No data mining. No tracking. Anonymous posting allowed. It's perfect for people who really value their privacy and also want to connect online with the people that matter most to them.

Some of our members use the site to connect with family only, others for their closest friends. Some professionals use it to meet in private with colleagues. Companies can use it to meet off the grid. Because privacy settings are so absolute, our members enjoy a level of social discretion and exclusivity they can never get on a free site that is monetizing their data and tracking everything.

UmeNow.com will not appeal to the crowd who likes to look at the crowd. It's designed to be exclusive and discreet. There are 2 public spaces where members that don't know each other can exchange on topics of interest to offer an opportunity to meet new people.

UmeNow.com is a recent start-up funded entirely by its founder and one angel investor. It is a grassroots movement to take back one's life information and bring to social networking the same level of sanctuary that one can experience at home. We have created an online environment where our private members control everything.

Hope some of you do decide to experience UmeNow.com.

Serving our members as highly valued clients is our # 1 priority.

I always kept my feed on top news, when I go to the feeds now, I see the same jokes posted a million times. i'm seriously thinking of not bothering w/ the feeds anymore. The ticker is so annoying, i make my window small enough so I don't have to be bothered by it or use the fixes that have come out.

Why facebook thinks it knows what we need or want better than we do is way beyond me. We should be given a choice to chose what WE want to see, not what facebook wants you to see.

In case facebook has not figured it out, I absolutely HATE the new changes and want them to CHANGE IT BACK!!!

However, we can tell the advertisers how we feel by "hiding" the ads and give the reason, 'Undo Timeline' which is what people are doing now in protest. Facebook is a nice concept but forcing our walls with a ridiculous layout is just the fuel for that kind of fire. The only way FB works is if we are receptive to what they are offering and a growing many are starting to be more and more vocal about their dislike for Timeline. Some things are just not a good idea.
