Hi, bvs, and I'm glad to know you haven't had any problems.
Because no program is perfect, I recommend using anti-malware programs. One that offers real-time protection whenever your PC is on, and one that's strictly on-demand--you load it when you want to manually scan your hard drive. (The first type is often called an anti-virus program, second anti-spyware. Both names are misleading, since both look for all kinds of malware.)
MSE falls into the category of real-time protection. I recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for SuperAntiSpyware for on-demand work. Run it every couple of weeks, or when you suspect there's something wrong going on.

Just because you have had no problems does NOT mean it is
providing complete protection . What Lincoln says is true;
always best to have a 2nd and perhaps a 3rd program to
"verify" that nothing was missed by the 1st program .
It appears that Lincoln has a spelling error in his
Post !? In addition to my "antivirus" program, I use
BOTH Malwarebytes Anti-Malware AND "SUPERAntiSpyware"
on my computer, BOTH of which come in a FREE version
as "on-demand" Scanners .

Hi. Malwarebytes ( www.malwarebytes.org ) & SUPERantispyware ( www.SUPERantispyware.com ) are both good ON DEMAND scanners. What this means as although they are installed ( FREE versions ) they do not run actively. You have to click on them to have them run ( On demand ) and as such, do not interfere with the actively running app(s). Always a good thing.

I also left out an important adjective. I meant "Because no program is perfect, I recommend using two anti-malware programs."

On demand scanners aside, if you are running MSE with Vista or Windows 7, you should be good to go, but Windows XP does not support the Network Traffic Inspection feature. If this is the case, then you might consider browsing with IE8 or IE9 because MSE integrates with them to protect against web based threats by preventing malicious scripts from running.
Either way though, MSE will not allow a downloaded virus to execute, no matter which browser you are using.

Yes, but that is not what the poster asked. Security programs are important to go along with common sense. Please post things like this in a more relevant thread, and especially not a thread that was pretty much resolved nineteen days ago.
