Holographic Tv: Finally Are We At The Beginning Of A New Age?

How far are we into the real stuff: holographic 3D - no spectacles, or flat screens?

Well, this article from BBC's Click features a video of a very early-stage device which, indeed, manages to project a holographic - attention needed: video - and not just a still image.

I would imagine there were people in the early 1920s asking the same question about conventional TV: how far are we from the next real thing that would change the world?

Your insights would be appreciated.

Hmmm, Not sure of holographic TV. 3-D seems to be plodding along at the moment, but may pick up in time. Although I am 3-D ready, I haven't as yet tried it.

And then there are some that just don't see the value of it. I saw a 3d movie in the theater once. I didn't notice much 3d throughout the movie, the glasses annoyed me (I don't normally wear them, my dad who does found it wierd to wear 2 pairs at once), and it costs more. Since then, I've only watched theater movies in 2D. As for a regular TV, I'm just not convinced it's worth it, and again the glasses.

3D is really little better than the 3D experiences of the fifties.

Until the new 3D fad, had anyone remembered about the fads that had been started before? Notice I said fads - this will eventually go away and people will forget it.

Don't really remember much about it. Guess it wasn't all that impressive then.

I remember the 3-D Comic books and the paper glasses with one red lens and one green lens. You needed those things too, as the comic book looked really bad without them.
