Wait a minute! If you do not run the Startup program, you won't have the service when you need it. Many Startup programs are needed for a smooth operating system. Before disabling them one MUST know what they are doing.

It also helps disabling services with msconfig. Sometimes, even more than disabling start-up programs. For example, automatic updaters for Google and Adobe run as services. To do it, after launching msconfig, select the Services tab, and mark Hide MS Services, then uncheck the services you don´t won´t, Accept and Reboot.

You can also disable MS services (do not check the Hide checkbox) but, of course, you have to be careful.

Even better, before disabling unwanted or unnecessary programs/services, uninstall them completely.

You should never disable services with msconfig. Always use services.msc.

This is because under msconfig, services can be stopped even if they are essential to the running of Windows, rendering your system unbootable. Services.msc protects essential services from being turned off.

Don't bother searching for msconfig - your computer won't find it. Go to Start>Run and type in msconfig - voila!
