I should have pinpointed this virus in safe mode, oh well, it has since been destroyed by the quick power-hammer of Format Disk!

System is a Toshiba Satellite-A355D with Vista home premium x64
but this will be like Crazy's words of wisdom ;) of that one virus you can't figure out what is happening but you see stuff like this-

tieuyrgohfv.exe *32
gtbfkmcoinwco.exe *32
qoecinbtjcncmx.exe *32

basically, 'insert random letters here' .exe and look for the *32

My unofficial name for this is what I call an overflow virus, one that keeps replicating and makes the computer is unusable... this computer had 134 running processes @ 100% CPU usage when I finally pulled the plug and moved to Windows 7. I pulled the hard drive, archived the user profile and then installed Win7 x64. It is so much faster!

So what are some of the strange and newer viruses you've seen?

That's interesting.

But I haven't been seeing strange and newer viruses, my AVG scanner directly kills it before I can tinker with it.

That is pretty good but bad at the same time... it is good AVG is handling the viruses you encounter, bad that you are running into them. What on earth are you downloading??

I am on a Mac, so the virus perspective is skewed...

Hi Crazy :

As you most likely know, there are few if any computer
"viruses" nowadays ; now there are rootkits, trojans,
keyloggers, rouges, etc . The top experts that deal with
these are either certified "Malware Removal Specialists"
and/or "Microsoft Most Valuable Peofessionals", found on
forums such as www.widerssecurity.com, advanced malware
removal forums ( such as www.geekstogo.com/forum ) or
http://aumha.net .

Not much downloading, sometimes people use this pc for printing. Some use USBs and other direct printing to this one. The AVG is set to scan them once they connect to this machine.
